N51 Engine rattle at certain RPMs

Hello everyone, to make a very very long story short, I am hearing a rattling sound when my engine is revving either in park or drive with the windows up, no a/c or anything on or else the sound gets drowned out. Mostly happens on cold days, it starts around 1500 rpms and stops at 3000-3200 rpms. It is tied to rpms as it will get faster as the rpms climb and then stop around 3000 rpms. If I blip the throttle to about 4000 or above the sound will stop for that drive, until it gets cold again and then will come back. Any suggestions at all are appreciated, thank you in advance!

Just to keep the thread updated I replaced both VANOS solenoids and the sound seemed to dissapear. I also replaced the belt tensioner and my idler pulley was blown as well so it was a good preventative maintenance item to do!
