2011 N55 E93 VSRF Catless DP
I am getting fixed to receive my VSRF catless DP.
I have 4 questions. 1) How bad was the smell with this downpipes installed it’s because I have an E93, that’s convertible? 2) Installing catless DP, will that affect MPG and trigger the DME to run rich? 3) The downpipes fix from VSRF, do you know if that just suppresses the CEL light or it actually alters the signal going into the DME? 4) For the DP fix from VSRF Is there an connector that I can get so I can plug and play and won't have to splice any cable? |

I actually like the smell after having downpipes installed. The smell is not that noticeable and bad.
It improved my MPG, and you can hear the turbo spooling a lot faster and louder. Also helped with a little turbo lag when not in drive sport I can't comment on the DP fix since I flashed with MHD to remove the code

I also like the smell after installing the DP, especially after adding a couple gallons of e85. As far as the fix goes, it should be altering the signal before the DME so the car believes a cat is present. As it stands right now there isn't a plug and play version unless you make your own. For pigtails, I purchased a 2011 n55 o2 sensor and n55 harness used at a local junkyard for pretty cheap.

VRSF DP review
1) How bad was the smell with this downpipes installed it’s because I have an E93, that’s convertible?
- When at a stop light or backing up from a garage the smell is definitely there. From a 1-5 rating (5 being unbearable) I'd rate the smell at a 2. 2) Installing catless DP, will that affect MPG and trigger the DME to run rich? - The DP's alone didn't affect MPG. Unless you end up flooring it more since the sound is more intoxicating. 3) The downpipes fix from VSRF, do you know if that just suppresses the CEL light or it actually alters the signal going into the DME? - VRSF DP fix I believe alters the DME, I'd recommend spending your money on MHD or JB4 instead that way you don't get a CEL and you take full advantage of the DP. 4) For the DP fix from VSRF Is there an connector that I can get so I can plug and play and won't have to splice any cable? - Not that i know of, just grab a tune and be done with it. |

Thank you for your response. But those flashes or tune (JB4 or MHD) will only suppress the CEL only though, it wouldn't allow me to pass emission, right? But I might as well get them though. I need to get a FMIC before I tune my car though. |

Correct, both performance tunes will only suppress/delete the CEL. For emissions on the other hand I wouldn't fully trust the DP fix. I've read on some others forums that even though the DP fix deletes the CEL it's still a hit or miss when getting your smog done. Best if you know someone that'll pass you without cat's or get used to installing and uninstalling your DP yourself. N55's are much easier to work with than the N54's since its only one pipe instead of two.

The smell isn't that bad, but I can't drive with the windows down without getting a headache and feeling ill. Some people are just more sensitive to it, personally I'm switching to HFCs to see if it helps enough.

2. I haven't had a problem with running rich, running lean has been more of a thing. 3. I actually had someone else take care of mine by just disconnecting the wiring itself there so no code comes up at all. 4. Sorry see #3
