I'll also be confirming if e30 spring pads work for e90 as well. Starting to wonder if the spring pad, and top hat is gonna be too much of a "lift" though. Guess we'll find out. I'll also be making some spacers to raise the rear a few mm so it's not too nose high

I used e30 10mm rear spring pads on my e90 very easy mod.

Good to know! Any idea how thick the e90 spring pads are? 2mm maybe?

Yeah, something like that, the spring always poke them through.

Ah, I ordered the front 9mm thick spring pads. Hopefully they will work. For the rear I'm making a custom spacer. My car has a lot of rake as it sits, so the front should go up 1cm more than the rear, but total I'm looking to lift the front 2cm total because of fitment issues, and the rear is going to come up just so it doesn't look funny

You're not on coilovers so there's no need for anything "custom." There's an abundance of OEM options...just go with one of those.

Post photos here. I'm not sure what kind of pad are you referring to about the front. For the rear you could use pads that are readily available form older 3 series. They come in 5, 7, 10 and 15mm and require very little work to be fitted.

As it relates to upper spring pads, the E30 (and some other older models) came with a 3mm and 9mm option:

Are you referring to the e30 rear spring pads? I'm not exactly sure how those would fit on an e90, would it go between the upper spring cup and frame? feuer, any input on how you did it with yours?

Yes on the rear, lie you said, between the upper cup and the frame.

gotcha, so you just modified them in the same way as the other post, that's what I figured. I'm planning on exactly that, but with some different material

Can confirm that the thicker spring pads will fit for the front. So that's a good solution if you only want 9mm, without changing top hats. Both combined hopefully will net me close to 19mm, or 3/4 of an inch of "lift" in the front, as well as additional shock travel

Alright, new spring pads, spring perches and bumpstops installed, just throwing on the wheels, then I'll grab some measurements for the after height. I did remove my 9mm spacer from the passenger side (had the strut slid up) and removed a 6mm one from the drivers side. Passenger side sat a bit lower, which caused it to rub more so I just leveled it out. I won't be leveling it out with this mod, because I'm hoping it will eliminate all my rubbing.

Raised my car exactly 19mm. Removed my extra spacers and ended up exactly 12mm higher. Can't believe how much better it ride and handles with the extra 19mm of travel. No rubbing, I can finally drive it hard again!

So you raised it 12mm all around ? Can you post the part numbers used ?

Technically 19mm-ish, but I had the struts slid up 9mm, and returned them to stock and used the thicker spring pads, so that all my ride height increase increased travel as well. And, I measured in inches, and it was dead on 1/2 an inch change. Didn't have a cm measuring tape. I've got photos I will just need to upload, but I think I'll make a separate thread about it
