Dealer prices (brakes alignment)

So I have to say I know bmw charges arm leg for services- but I really was ready to consider the service Dept handling my rear brakes when I had the car in for recall of the blower fan wiring.
I get the check review - $800 just for rear brakes , $199 for alignment.

FCP Euro has the entire rear brake kit for $200. Even if they quoted $400-500 I'd do it but $800!!?
As for alignment $80 bucks any reputable good shop.

Bmw needs to bring down service prices they would get so much business !

The rear brakes for $800 is high, especially if you can DIY.

The alignment really depends, some of these guys working at the alignment shops don't know what the hell they are doing.

$199 is a BMW average alignment price. I've taken advantage of their promo deals at $159 for alignment. All depends if you think you need their extra equipment to get you straight -- I'm sure many would disagree, but on a personal note, even my independent recommends the BMW alignment when you get really out of whack.

I think that 200$ every few years is not bad. The report I got from their machine, with spec and actual was worth the money. In another 40,000 (tyre change) I will see them again.

My experience with BMWs is most shops screw up the alignment, rather than get it in alignment.

OE brake parts retail at the dealer are $400. The shuttle to work, or loaner car, or nice waiting area all cost money.

The shuttle to work, or loaner car, or nice waiting area all cost money. __________________ A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
