Valve Cover Gasket or cover?
2006 BMW 325I
129,000 miles Valve cover gasket is leaking- looks bad. VANOS covered in oil, oil dripped down to exhaust causing smoke etc.... Called two different indy shops here in DC and they both stated that given the year and mileage, I need to replace the entire cover ($500) and the gasket. They said if I do the gasket alone, it will begin to leak again down the road Thoughts? *Nevermind*- after a search it looks like changing the cover is the way to go given age/mileage Last edited by ImtheKing; 08-12-2022 at 12:59 PM.. |

you have a metal valve cover. it is unlikely it needs to be replaced. the plastic covers that crack didn't start until 2007.
