I was providing fact-based feedback on the question. I could personally care less about a hat, a pencil, and a water bottle.
Just curious - not a big deal but it's a natural inclination to compare year over year.

I guess it's an evolution of value. When M track days first came out, they were free. Many folks complained about the $250.

Speaking of value, you could do an entire day at a BMWCCA HPDE (obviously different in your car) at some great tracks for $250. That's 80 minutes of track time vs two 8 minutes sessions and you aren't stuck in a lead follow...

We can't even come close to $250 for HPDE. Ours are about $500 - 600.

Well yea the HDPE seems cheaper but once you add in the track insurance and the shot tires and the wear and tear on your own vehicle pushed to the max
... it adds up fast
that said the on-track time between the HDPE and M track day is incomparable.. HDPE wins

Whoa! $500-$600 for a day or a weekend? I thought East Coast events were expensive...

Totally fair. I ran the numbers last year and 2 days at VIR or Watkins in my e92 m3 cost me between $600 and $800 a day in terms of fixed cost (gas, track expense and insurance) plus variable (track pads, rotors, tires, high temp brake fluid, motul oil, etc) and that didn't take into account general depreciation or extra wear on bigger items.

I guess the broader point is that these events aren't a substitute or comparable event to/for an HPDE. Great chance to see the m cars in a more intensive test drive but nothing like a track day.

I say all that to reiterate that I agree. An M Track Day is really cool and good value but not a real track day.

Its more of a really intro event to tracking and great PR for BMW
but yea yer right its not a real track day
.. a real full track day even at a regular/subpar country track is gonna be needed to get blood flowin in this old horse..
lead/follow? aint gonna do it

now skidpad.. more interesting.. I can do my own skidpad but pro/expert tutelage in skidpad control would be nice

That's for a single day at COTA. Other tracks in Houston or Dallas are usually less expensive, but also a lot further away so then you have to consider fuel and lodging as well.

That's crazy, we have single day HPDE's for as low as $135, all day, 5 sessions at 20 min each.

COTA charges $167,000 for the three-day weekend.

Was it a black swell thermos with a silver outlined BMW logo we got at the UDE? I was hoping for something different. I got several of those already.

Yes, also got the black water bottle.

I believe Homestead was the first tour stop. So it’s possible they ran out by now. Although that would seem like piss poor planning on BMWs part. Who knows.

What I am asking if you got a pin in the mail. The black water bottle was given out at the event.

We got the PIN last year after the event.

Seems he said he did get a pin this year. Looks like I am calling the info number for Mtrack days tomorrow and asking what is up with a pin, I mean I did pay $750 lol. Heard they used to give more swag when it was free.
