Can I ask a question how much does JB4 gain on a stock N55 car?

Too many variables to say

A stock can can differ in power massively, let alone adding the JB4.

I can tell you that my car saw an 20kw increase on map 2

Thats 26hp on an Australian Dyno,

I did a dyno run FBO with the JB4 turned off at 220kw / 295hp
Then turned the JB4 onto map 2 and ran 240KW / 321hp

Keep in mind you need to convert these to American numbers, add 15% or something like that.
So for a stock car, I really dont know what the gains would be.

EDIT: Just noticed you are Aussie

Both can make the same power. It boils down to the driving experience. Most people prefer the power delivery and smoothness of a flash only tune. I guess to decide you'd better try a good flash only tune. Those will mature over time.

I am leaning more towards flash only. I haven't done any research into methanol triggers and safeties outside of the JB4 which would be my only hesitation. Running E mixtures is not that convenient as I live an hour away from a pump so I have to fill up containers and mix at home, makes me more dependent on meth.

I have a pump downtown Portland, but It's a 20+ mile round trip. Already have an AEM meth kit, so once I install the mods I'll go meth also. If you get to Portland, look me up. You can see first hand why a flash is better.

I'd take you up on that Ken. I have been getting fuel at Jay's garage when I do make a trip for Ethanol. I live in the Salem area so it's an hour each way for me.

BMS claimed a gain of 80hp/60whp on a stock N55 car, but that sounds too high if comparing to your JB4 only dyno. I`m new to tuning, if there anything I missed?

So, would this be what we can more or less expect from a "Stage 1" OTS map for MHD?

The manufacture will claim higher numbers and they are also USA numbers, so take 15% away to begin with to account for the US numbers, then take more to account for them being loose with the estimate.

You arent missing anything.

Their claimed 60whp is 44.7rwkw

Take 15% off which is 6.7rwkw and you are left with 38rwkw

Then

A stock car can vary in is power massively, I learnt recently in Melbourne Nizpro had dynoed stock N54's at like 150rwkw and another at 210rwkw, fully stock....

So its really anyones guess as to where you will get to....

The only way to know for sure is to do stock dyno runs, get an average, then more dyno runs on the same dyno after adding a tune or parts, but even the same dyno will run different numbers on different days...

I was lucky enough to have the JB4 installed, and to do a run with it off then a run with it on, and yeah i saw 20rwkw added when it was in map2.

This is why you really cant compare dyno numbers between cars... Tooo many variables

oh,,,thanks for a good explanation bro Now its all clear. With regard to those two N54s, I think maybe one has severe mechanical issue, carbon built etc. So why use number were different from ours?

I haven't seen or tested the OTS maps for N55 as Justin from Twisted Tuning has been working with a closed group of testers. Justin is a very accomplished tuner and will do a great job with OTS map development.

For those looking for something a bit more and customized to your car, this or more is what you can expect from my custom tunes.

Just so you know, this is still using stock VANOS and stock timing. Depending on fuel, I would hope this number would be higher, must higher for those who are fortunate to have really good fuel.

So in two weeks we will have a dedicated thread by MHD with an open beta release date. Super stoked! The JB4 is coming off next week.

I can't wait to get something more convenient for tuning. I'm also dangerously close to pulling the trigger on a Pure Stage 2 for my N55, also. Couple that with 93 Octane, and E85 fairly common around town, I think I could have some options to make decent power.

Yeah issues but also possible to have a car that performs better than what it should in a stock state.

Ahh ive never been to the reason US dyno numbers are higher than ours, not sure.

Pure speculation is that they started inflating numbers and its become mainstream and accepted across the country.
