OK, split from 2018-2 into a new thread as 2019-1 now available and makes it easier for everyone to find. This is a fast torrent with plenty of seeds of the 3xUSB version.

Thanks to AD18 for spotting 2019-1 was out there already and credit to Nord this time for the torrent file...

Ps I downloaded it, extracts fine with no errors, definitely a 2019-1 WEST torrent and generated a code no problem, will load it on tomorrow but looks good.

For anyone who needs it map code looks to be 0x28 0x38

is it a case of just putting these 3 files on one USB or do you NEED to do it via 3 sticks?

thanks for sharing

I copy all to one stick, take laptop to car then copy contents of usb1 to top level of stick. When needs disk 2 move those files back to usb1/delete and put contents of USB 2 at top level of stick etc. If do a cut and paste only takes a second to move files between the folders, no need for multiple sticks or wipe and copy to stick one at a time

Great, thanks for that. Can confirm the download is good and fast. Haven't tried it yet. If you could comment back once you've installed it that would be good. I'll divert my attention to this instead of 2018-2 when giving it a go!

Edit: worked fine on way home as well

Where do you use the 0x28 0x38 code? I'm using BMW CIC FSC Generator by Jagaer.

In the maps drop down the latest option available is 2018-2 not 2019-1.

Thank you.

Always takes around 50mins I think (a guess but will be close), obviously moving files around the stick on laptop will slow things down a fraction vs 1x USB but not by a lot, I always update with whatever is available first/easiest to get, no point waiting for 1x USB I'd rather get the new map on ASAP

Can these files be used for a DVD update as well or are they a different format? Last map update I did was 2018-1 and can't remember what I downloaded!

You can, but i think you need dual layer discs.

From what I've read this should be fine however I think I read some old drives can't read dual layer? Would definitely need dual layer disks, I guess if you did 2018-1 via DVD this should be fine although if there's any chance of using USB do that, much faster!

Yeah I've done the update a few times with DVD just couldn't remember if I could use the same files as the USB! Will give it a go.

Mine is a 06/2009 build so has the USB in the glove box but you can't use it to update the maps - has to be DVD.

Hi Gaz
I've been trying to update my 03/2009 335i for a while now using USB, as like you it has the glovebox USB, however I've never got the update to work and have just assumed it was not the required USB stick type.

How did you find out about it being DVD only? This is the first time I've heard this, although easily might have missed it!!

Older cars would need an i-level update to update via USB, I originally thought this would affect DVD loads as well but would seem not, dual layer dvds aren't that expensive so worth a go, otherwise ISTA-P is an alternative:

"Only for vehicles with a production date of 03/ 2010 or later is it possible to carry out the update using a USB stick. For vehicles with a production date prior to 03/2010 it is first necessary to carry out an integration level update at the dealership. As an alternative, for vehicles with a production date prior to 03/2010 there is always the option of carrying out the update via ISTA/P"

My car does not recognise the USB drive.

So I have downloaded the torrent, extracted using win rar and started by putting USB 1 onto a memory stick first. The stick is formatted as FAT32 and the files on the stick is the config file and a folder labelled pkgbd, which is where all the files are. When I plug the stick into the USB port in my car nothing happens.

Little bit of info on my car, it is a 330d touring 2013 with pro nav.

Many Thanks

TBH, I can't actually remember where I read it, I have a feeling it was on the BMW nav update site but I may have made that up! Anyway, it's obviously right because I can't update via USB but the DVD method works.

I would give the DVD update a go mate. It's a bit of a pain in that it takes longer & you end up with a load of nav update DVDs but then it's not like you're having to do it every day. Worth a shot.

A touring 2013 would be F series with nbt nav, different nav files needed and different process entirely. The required steps are explained elsewhere on the site if you search though
