MHD v9 e50 stage 2+
Is it normal to have a lot of timing corrections with this tune im getting pretty bad -11 -7 but also -1.7 i can post the log for a little back story i've done LPFP 450walbro, inlets, dual cones, intercooler, downpipes, 2-stepcooler NGKs, eldercoils, catch can, upgraded pcv valve normal 3k-4k oil changes compression test all cylinders around 160 not sure if my HPFP is going bad or the injectors i haven't replaced yet not sure what version they are either.
Doesn't seem to ever misfire either.... no signs of the engine knocking etc sounds smooth https://datazap.me/u/zelderleee/my-log?log=0&data=3-21 Last edited by Zelderlee; 09-05-2021 at 02:16 PM.. |

I got codes when I needed to replace injectors, similar tune, but custom with an ethanol sensor, supposed to be e60 for the sweet spot but it adjusts based on ethanol reading. I'm on stock turbos and it's still pretty snappy. I asked my tuner about going colder on plugs, he didn't recommend. I didn't have much luck with the OTS tunes, I think the turbos are less than fresh and the tuner had to make adjustments. And the adjustments were good. BTW, trans flash and bov rather than stock dv's were good for making use of the tune.

I'm not an expert on tuning this platform by any means, but it seems like your WGDC is high AND you aren't hitting target boost. This to me suggests a boost leak or worn wastegates, perhaps both.
You will knock like a SOB with the wastegates clamped down and no VE gain--lots of back pressure and high EGTs. Your fuel seems pretty much perfect, and your O2 sensors seem to respond alright when you let off. I also assume it's an automagic judging by no loss of boost(ish) between gears? Knocking on such a high E blend takes work, IME. Could be low E%. Could be IATs, too, but I doubt it's just that as lots of guys are on here with hybrids or ST, beating on their cars on dynos during the heat of the summer and they have almost no corrections on high E blends. FWIW, I had mad corrections until I replaced my clapped out turbos. Final thing to consider is back pressure from somewhere else. I dunno if you have a CA#ed downp*p@, but my OEM CA#s were melted when I took them off. I sure as shit felt it too. Carbon cleaning is supposed to help as well, but I never saw the dividends people were claiming in terms of responsiveness and timing corrections. I did get ~0.5+mpg better averaged out over several tanks of fuel, however. Lastly, if you read the MHD manual, they have some suggestions on what can cause knock, and a big one that I've personally experienced is the damn coils. Buy one new coil and throw it in your worst cylinder, knock-wise, and see what happens. Worst to worst, you now have a spare. -Cm |
