They are not really expensive and I would try finding used just for test fit. https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E84-X1...nsion/Springs/ |

also do the FSD's actually raise the car slightly? or do they only adjust ride quality? |

The x1 series BMW is really a e91, so the suspention can potentially be fitted with some thought...

Probably out of budget/difficult to justify for most, but bags would let you raise up high enough. I got rid of my Koni Yellows/HR Sports, and got AirLift Performance system. Tired of scraping and I tow occasionally, so it met/meets my needs well. At max lift I think I've got about 3-4 inches of wheel gap, although you wouldn't want to drive at that height since the ride would be extremely stiff due to the bags being at higher pressure. At the cost of the total system though, you might just consider getting a different vehicle lol

I too think my 2009 328i e90 recently purchased is too low. I use to drive a 2004 325i and thought the new e90 sedan would be similar height. I was disappointed that this e90 sedan is more like the 325Ci e46 sport coupe. Too low for me getting in and out and hitting parking stop blocks and speed bumps.
So I did not read how much non-sport springs would raise my e90 sedan. Dcay |

There was nothing wrong with how the e46 3-Series family was designed by BMW. The “family” 325i sedan was set-up about 2” higher than the “sporty” 325ci coupe. Seems to me to make sense. However all of the e90 3-Series family are set-up as “sporty”, even the 4-door “family” sedan!
And yes it is disturbing when your “family” car hits parking lot speed bumps and cannot pass over parking spot wheel stops as it is usually designed to for most other cars. |
