Does it have anything to do with you having CA? Try putting your key fob into the slot and seeing if it saves the settings then. Then again BK has CA as well.

Mine is good too I guess this is a new feature.

Ok, for grins this morning I started the car with the key in the dash. Then called myself from the house phone, got a nuclear alarm, and turned it down to a manageable level.

Then drove to work, and later today or tomorrow (after the car has fully power cycled) we'll see how it does when someone calls me.

But I'm skeptical. The car stores things like the seat position and such in the key fob, and still manages to get those when I unlock the car, even though the key isn't in the dash...

Huh - I have a 330i without IDrive and the BT ring is neither loud nor obnoxious. It actually just sounds like the ringing you hear when you call another phone.

It should store the volume setting. I noticed when I adjusted the voice command response volume it remained at that same level every time afterwards so I would assume the ringtone would work in the same manner.

Interesting. A day later I think it was at the same volume. The only difference between this time and prior attempts is that when I turned the volume down, the key was in the dash instead of in my pocket.

I still won't trust this fix until it sticks for a week or two... but it seems like it has potential progress...

Has anyone else tried it?

Ive got 2011 335is (Sept 2010) and used older Motorola Razr flip phone until recently. BT pair worked great, and incoming calls always were announced by simply muting the music, and maybe a very soft ring but I think that might have been the cell phone... certainly no shrill nuclear ring.

Then just last wk I got a new BB Bold 97xx, and after I paired up, suddenly Ive got the nuclear alarm on incoming calls. Ive gone thru all the BMW BB settings and all the BB Bold settings, and I cant figure this.

BB ring tones, including vibrate, dont make any difference on the BMW ring tone... same shrill screech. As reported, the steering wheel volume lower the level but still, what a pain. Somehow the BMW ringtone can be different than the nuclear blast, as I experienced for the last 6 months. Id really like to get back to my old BMW ring tone!

More info... Ive used3-4 different ring tones on the BB device, no change in the BMW ringtone. Also tried vibrate on the BB device, no change in the BMW ringtone.

I adjust the volume in the BB device during incoming call, no change int he BMW volume. Somehow something is differnt w/ the old Moto Razr, which played a soft "normal" ring on the BMW, not the shrill blast I get now

Mine is a normal/low ring volume - it always remembers the volume level set and it's also the same ringtone as what my phone uses. My phone is a Samsung s10
