Help 335 No start, after HPFP change

My 2006 BMW 335 E92 cranks/turns over but wont start/fire it will not even hint at starting.

This is a really mystery to me, I replaced the HPFP in my 335 worked well then after 6 months the pump failed again and i got new one under warranty. ( is cheap aftermarket pump)

When i installed the new pump the car started but ran rough, then spluttered and died. Turns out I had not tightened the fuel rail line sufficiently at top of HPFP, tightened it up and went to restart the car.

Cranks over but no start, CEL but only codes are 2ABC and 3100

Removed JB4 cleared codes, ( i have INPA)

no start, cranks fine, no start.

checked all fuses in ECU box all ok.

Checked LPFP by activating with INPA ok pressure reading is good.

Have also removed fuel line from HPFP to to check if something has blocked line, no issue.

loosened fuel rail on an injector and there was Plenty of pressure there.

Removed spark plug, very black but checked spark again and can see spark when cranking, the spark plug was wet so seems to be getting fuel?

visually inspected wiring in junction box under intake all seems good .

What am i missing? this doesn't make any sense at all? my only idea is a faulty DME is there any way to check this.

is there anything else i should be looking at I havnt checked all the fuses in glove box yet.....
or is there any other test i can do on INPA or using the BMW stranded tools?

not sure if it is relevant but had to jump start the car from rear battery, (have also tried disconnecting IBS will throw a code but still no start)

Any help would be much appreciated as i am at a total loss

thanks

Whenever you do anything on these car's you must
check that you have a fully charged working battery first.
Working on the car without the battery disconnected for
a long length of time will deplete the battery .

Ista can be easier for diagnosing things.

reset adaption values, no start no change but new codes now have code 2cFB and 2D09.

Neither or those codes seem to usually cause a no start...

Seems another dead end

I would start to take everything you disconnected and took off the car to access the HPFP again and reconnect everything. Maybe you missed a connection someplace.

Come to think of it, I has a code like this not too long ago and my Throttle body died. Replaced it and everything was good. Not saying yours is throttle body but it could be in that area.

so they believe the CAS may have gone bad as they cant get the DME and the CAS to re-sync.

does this sound plausible? I would think a CAS not giving the start signal would mean no crank or at least no spark?

700NZD for new CAS + coding, i don''t mind paying it if it fixes the problem but dont want to throw money at it until it starts again

Yes, it does seem like that could do it. If it does not fix the issue don't pay for it.

Ok still no go, CAS changed and that got rid of the fault.

Then HPFP rail showing low pressure, so fitted a genuine pump (1400 NZD)

Fuel pressure good it kicked a few times AND even blew a little bit of smoke out the exhaust but no start.

cleaned spark plugs as they were gunky.

Now it is back to crank not even trying to kick agian , no CEL. no error code to help.

Its being towed back to the shop again next week, i have now spent $2400 and i am basically in the same spot?

Any help would be be much appreciated, if you any idea or anything to check let me know.

I would start with what stated the issue. The fuel pump. I know you said its working but it could be sending something to the DME it doesnt like.

That is why i replaced with genuine pump, its showing between 140-160hpa on crank in INPA.

I am still getting the odd little kick so i am wondering if it is worth throwing a crank sensor at it as my therory is

There is spark
there is fuel pressure
therefore timming must be wrong?
