get a cheap 17 with a et40 and you should be able to fit 275 without problems

i have 275/40/17 mt et ss and they hook great in 2nd with no wheel spin. Approximately 480 whp 560 wtq
That sounds like what I am looking for. Got any pics and details of this setup?

this is on a 17x9 et 30 wheel, 275/40/17 MT ET S/S .It rubbed a bit but i wanted the concave style wheel so i had to go with et30, there is a ton of room on the inside so et40 would be perfect with no rubbing .

go for et40 and dont worry about rubbing, you can always add a small spacer if you want to make it more flush later on

What I mean is after plugging in my current specs vs what I want in a tire is tells me what Wheels will work.
I don't really understand wheel specs very well, sorry.

they will all work , now it all depends on how stiff your suspension is, and will it rub or not. That wheel spec you posted with probably rub on stock suspension, with stiff coilover it will probably not rub, 9 inch wheel with et40 should not rub even on stock suspension.

Hitting the strip next weekend for the first time in this car. E90 N54, 7" FMIC, chargepipe (boom!), MHD stage1+. Everything else is pretty much stock. Regular street tires (Kumho Ecsta 4X). Anything advice for launch would be appreciated. Also any pre-track maintenance/checks would be helpful. Cheers!

Since you are XI you can launch from 1st. Not sure if you are manual or auto. Dont worry about the tree lights, the time doesnt start until you move, so take your time, brake boost it a bit and hold on traction control completely off

Thanks! It's a 6spd. I didn't know that about the lights, good info to have. I assumed the timer started when the light goes green.

I will update with a timeslip after I go.

Cheers!

Hi

Heres my story and im very happy. 2007 335I FBO, JB4, E50, turner HF Cats, stock exhaust, Continental all seasons. Drag raced 30+ years. Got this car as a toy first BMW love it.

First pic mods as stated above, one run had a 1.79 60 but had low FP so it shut off.

Now I have 19T's and PI straight E85 thats the next two pics. 1st gear 10psi, 2nd 18, the rest 20.5, waiting on a FP regulator before I turn it up.

My question is yes I need better tires wanting to stay on stock rims probably R888R toyos or something like that. Any suggestions?

The bigger question is the car on the top end was getting sketchy, all stock suspension. I see theres all kinds of stuff available just not sure how far to go. Best way to describe it was I felt like I was I the highway getting moved around from the Semi ruts in the slow lanes. Cant believe how well it does on the open rear and tires I have.

Thanks

1.79 60 ft on continentals is dam good. Track must have been super sticky that day. There are only 2 tires you should be looking at, and they are Nitto NT05R or the Mickey Thompson ET S/S for the best traction. You can also use them for the street, but any r comp tire needs to be heated in order to get maximum "hook". If your looking to get the maximum cold traction for the street, I would recommend Michelin PS4S

Note: I currently run R888R's, and from stop light to stop light, they spin. If heated up, they hook. As well they are loud driving around on the street. I'm going to try PS4S next for the street, as they hook good without warning them up, and get another set of rims to run NIttos, or Mickey Thompson for the strip.

Thanks I know I really need to get wheels, I used these in the link below on a Mustang cut 1.5 60's and will fit on the stock rims, however im looking for something that would be a bit better if you get stuck in rain.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hoo-17340dr2

What are folks doing to the suspension for drag racing? Just so the rearend is a bit better locked in place. I see Burgers brace, and you can do the bushings and arms. Just kinda dont feel that great about 120K on the chassis and the stock flimsy control arms.

I have never had wheel hop in this car on the street or track. How do the stock axles and open diff hold up?

i have 275s ps4s and they spin all through 2nd and half of 3rd gear on stock turbos so i wouldnt say they hook great. Mickeys hook great in 2nd on the street even when they are cold, they do fine in rain as long as they arent too worn, anything below 50% they become real sketchy.

Also that sway you feel while hitting the pedal hard can be amost removed with a good diff brace. I recommend this one https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38313
