Preventative maintenance while doing Oil Pan

Car is at 140k miles and I need to replace the oil pan and gasket. Should I buy some rod bearings and have them check to see if they need to be replaced and if not return afterward ? I plan on tuning this car , are there aftermarket bearings better for more power or is Oem better ? Are there any other preventative maintenance issues I should hit while I have the subframe down such as engine mount or water pump? Unknown history on vehicle n55 f30

Just did mine at 200k, and took the opportunity to do the water pump/thermostat, engine mounts and control arms and bushings. Super easy with the sub-frame out. And since I was doing the water pump, I went ahead and replaced the leaking radiator and all the hoses.

You probably know what you are doing better than I, but you may want to read my cross-theaded sub-frame bolt story here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1690933

Also, one lesson learned for me is to concentrate on the gasket-sealing bolts first, which is to say the ones all the way around the perimeter of the pan. THEN do the bell-housing-to-oil-pan bolts. If you do it in the reverse order, you run the risk of not getting a good seal on the rear part of the pan.

Finally, I'm assuming you are getting a new set of oil pan bolts. I found that it was well worth it to get a decent small-gauge digital torque wrench just for peace of mind. This one was great to work with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Let us know how the process goes. This DIY below is how I plan to do mine when the time comes. We have a relative with an 09 E90, I think these s#*t cars leak like a sieve. They got rid of that PoS last year because they would have to pay a shop.
