Wrecked E92 335i brought back to life in 20 hours!
So after having couple of these kind of accidents (I was 100% not at fault in both of them) and having cars totaled by our insurance I decided to post this video.
It's amazing to me how people in Eastern Europe (or any other country) can restore cars back to life in only 20 hours like in this job. While in US/Canada insurance will total it. The thing is when you are an enthusiast and you invested in your car, modded it, put a lot of work and love into your car - it's almost like your child, while for insurance companies it's no different than just another car out there - basically in their eyes it's junk not worth considering. Or is it that they just can't make a profit out of it - so they prefer to total it? Not to mention all the mods no one will consider when giving estimate - it's a loss in any case. Either way - it's good to know that there are skillful mechanics who can do amazing jobs. I just wish it was same in US/Canada Warning: turn off sound, it's much better that way Last edited by DuSh; 01-03-2018 at 09:16 PM.. |

You DON'T have to accept an insurance company's write-off check. You can insist that the insurance company fix the car despite the cost to fix is higher than their write off threshold.

A huge part of it is body shops are no longer body shops. They are part replacers.
When they see a damaged body panel that can't be unbolted and replaced, they prefer to run away as well.

And as more and more CFRP are used to save weight, more and more parts are going to be replaced rather than repaired, because you CAN'T pull a busted carbon fiber panel back.

No one expects someone to be able to fix an aluminum panel. CFRP? I'd love to know what percentage of cars on the road have it. 0.01%? And what?! Since when can't you bend carbon fiber back into shape!!! God damn you're insulting. You don't understand what I'm saying. Body shops don't even want to fix a door ding.

Sooooooo much work. You could have taken the money and bought a beat up classic and restored it and made a small fortune.
but anyway, it came out awesome. |

Saying cars use the same steel as they were decades ago is like saying computers use the same silicon chips they did decades ago. Sure the silicon is the same, but the chips today is NOTHING like they were even 10 years ago. Quote:
