Different ownership you say?
I will give them a shot then. Thanks for all the help to those who helped. No thanks to those who used this thread as a chat.

Shot in the dark here, but....
would anyone like to trade powdercoated black 162s for 199s? They are perfect. No curb rash whatsoever.

Surprised nobody mentioned Edge Motorwerks in Dublin. One of the best indy BMW shops in the Bay Area. E36 and E46 guys swear by them. I've had them do work on our E36 as well as the E90. Both times were excellent, Erik's crew does good work at high prices but I'm willing to pay that shop the money simply because they are an excellent shop.
I had met Erik when he was doing installs out of his driveway back in the day. He is definitely a stand up guy, down to earth, and takes care of his customers and his employees. I'm sure Mach III does good work, especially for E90post members too and I know Ray gives prices that can't be beat. I saw some pictures of the shop and it was pretty scary looking and messy, but that doesn't mean they don't do good work. I'm a little weary of "messy" shops not because it means bad work, but it means more chances for a scratch in the paint, chip on a wheel, etc. Probably nothing to worry about honestly, but my preference is always for a neat and tidy shop that is open and clear of all random stuff sitting around. I wouldn't say it's a bad shop though, but I haven't gone there myself and for convenience and personal preference, will probably go to Edge for a while.

Cool. Nothing personal against you guys at all. You have the best prices and about 80% of the members here vouch for you, so I'm sure things are just fine there. Will look forward to getting some work done there when the need arises.

Believe me, I completely understand and this is not personal in any way, shape, or form. You are helping me here.
I sometimes find myself saturatated within my daily operations that I lose sight of the bigger picture and suggestions or insight from others are always helpful. |

Hey Ray, a few questions.
1. How well trained are your technicians? 2. Do you offer European OEM parts? 3. Do you have credit plans available? (Just in case I get a little carried away) 4. Do you paint and install body mods?

Edge Motorworks is excellent. They've done work on my 335 and X5, each time it's been excellent. I'd say that you get better work done there and for far less then any BMW dealership. They did a flawless job on my lsd, and that's a job you can screw up easily.

Edge also works with aftermarket warranty companies too... It's one of the reasons why I may actually go and get a 3rd party warranty instead of BMWs.
Unfortunately, they had to lay off a few people recently, one of them being one of my autoX buddies... But regardless, tough times right now and nothing you can do.

I can't believe I completely missed your post! I normally scour these threads for leisure, but may miss a few to redeem my sanity. You are more than welcome to send me a PM with any other questions in the future. The answers to your questions are as follows: Our team has accumulated a variety of certifications through training in the automotive field. Aside from personal achievements, each member continuously challenges each other to learn and teach the tools of the trade. But I'm sure this is not the answer you seek, so let's rephrase this question: How advanced are your technicians? We have seven technicians with a variety of experience in this industry. And as a team, we are capable of tackling a wide variety of tasks from as simple as oil change, sway bars, coilovers, and alignments, up to timing belts, motor swaps, and the ever so fun, turbo upgrade. Our team aims so high to advance in this industry, that certain tasks have grown to become second nature. i.e. they are just as confident installing an E92 coilover as they are with a Civics. I have acquired many unusual parts before and will try my best to get anything for you in the future. Just PM me your wish list and I'll see what I can do. Quote:
We do not offer painting services, but I'm sure you'll be satisfied with my network of bodyshops, which I can refer you too. However we can tackle the installation of any parts you may have in mind. |
