on a sunny day, i dont think i would've had an issue with 35% tint since they can pretty much see through the car. it was gloomy outside so the tint looks so much darker.

Why are tint laws so restrictive and why does CA have every law known to man? seriously can we move or petition to get the law repealed or so we have freedom to tint? Many other states have no restrictions and it looks really really bad in my opinion if you only have back tint on ( I had it for a while and the ex-gf said it made me look like a poser; i kinda agreed and finally got tint on front)
And how is a fix-it ticket 1K? Are all officers full of shit when they pull you over like that? Man I goto school in socal and really thought LAPD was a good thing, but now I hate hate hate hate hate.....hate them Tickets for not having lights on your bike at night, jaywalking $150, $200 illegal crossing at intersection (4 reds whole intersection is blocked off and only peds can cross), but you can't go into the street...seriously I understand why being a cop is so hard but they get bad reps for a reason now... (Don't have better time than picking on students?) Usually in the bay area most cops are okay, but man am I starting to hate them now |

yeah the pig is either a member, owner or he recently picked up a 3 series brochure. the single xhaust is a dead giveaway for a 328.
where im at local pigs dont bother w/ little sh#t like ambers and tinted fr. windows. one of the questions i always ask my customers when they want to tint the front. "how aware are you of your surrounding when you drive, especially for COPs?" from that i recommend a shade. CHP...i know a few. their MO is to look for speeders, idiots weaving in/out of lanes, xpired tags, and tinted windows. i have 50% all around, windshield too. 8yrs no problems. ooops knock on wood to clear the tix and save a bit of $$ and trouble (kinda illegal) replace your fellow e92 plate w/ yours (one w/ no tint) and have a cop sign it off. the tix or courtesy notice doesnt have your Vin# on it. pay teh correction processing fee and you re in the clear. not my idea, from a super cool cop buddy. he also said you can.....wait thats too much stuff. pm me if you want more every pigs has Quotas. the cities and states needs $$$$$$ -vincent

tint laws and speed laws stem way back in the days....when it apply only to commercial vehicles (FedEx, taxi driver) or Commercial Codes. Commercial Vehicles that make a profit off teh road are regulated by teh state. they damage teh road and have to pay a yearly fee to fix teh roads. the state cant have 18 wheelers w/ limo 5% tint driving at an unsafe speed. regular passenger vehicals such as ours are private. so we can do whatever we want to it (tinting too). so somewhere along the way the insurance Co. (paid lobbyist hell $$$) say 'we cant let these free americans "TRAVEL" in teh land of teh free UNrestricted'. Oh "drive or driving" is under the commrcial code term. "to travel or traveling to" mean to move unrectricted (as long as you dont hurt or damage) no one tell you cant go to NY or TX. you dont ask...you just go. if you tell a cop you are DRIVING at whatever speed, you are saying to the cop you are commercial vehical. you are regulated. through the years they merge the private sectors and the Unified Commercial Codes (UCC) and call it Motor Vehical Laws for us Free citizens. Before you have RIGHTS and are free to travel anywhere unrectricted (public road). Now you must have a get a license and your RIGHTS are rectricted and regulated, just like teh big truckers (or they call it privilage to drive not a right)
there are more... next time "do we really own our cars" -vincent Omega Werks

He just wanted to check out your car as he's obviously in the know about bimmers. I'm guessing he didn't even put you in the database but said he did just because he couldn't say "I just wanted to check out your car..."

If he put you in the database, he gave you a written warning. What are the vehicle codes he listed, it will tell you exactly what laws you were "bending" at the time.
