Absentee Ballot Question...

First things first:

Hillary CLINTON or John McCAIN for President
(the two with by FAR the most experience)
Vote NO on all Propositions!!

Now with that out of the way:

I vote absentee ballot, have for years.
Several years ago I heard somewhere that absentee ballots are only counted if the vote is close (basically as a tie breaker).

Is that true? Since the absentee ballots are sent in BEFORE the voting day, that wouldn't make sense to me, you'd think they'd be counted FIRST.
But I'm not so sure anymore. Anybody know?

Thanks

Each state has different laws regulating when absentee ballots must be counted, and who does the counting. Most states count absentee ballots on Election Day which can continue for several days after. The latest deadline is 10 days after Election day

Thanks to both of you for the responses.
I noticed in the link provided above there was this paragraph:

"All vote by mail ballots that are returned to county election offices by 8pm on election day are counted. After the 2000 election, a popular radio talk show host suggested on air that absentee ballots in California are not counted unless the contest is close, and unfortunately this piece of misinformation ended up being repeated to the point where many people became concerned that their absentee votes had not been counted."

That's probably where I heard it too.
Glad they are counted regardless how close the competition is.
It's nice to know who really got the most votes.

Now we just need to get the popular vote to be what elects the President, not the electoral college. This way the person the PEOPLE REALLY voted for is in the White House. Would of saved us the mess of the pass 8 years.

i agree, the electoral college should be done away with and replaced with the popular vote.

absolutely not... I'm an independent. I could see myself voting for Obama in the general election though. Out of the Republicans, I like what Huckabee has to say the most. I see McCain as just another arm of the Bush regime. "Experience" seems to be the most important thing to you; I for one think that the country is in desperate need of new leadership. McCain and Clinton are filled with experience alright... BAD EXPERIENCE!

wrong. obviously, the amount in which you contribute economically should give you the most clout, usually, like the electoral college, this goes by population, used to be 30,000 for each district in the state, no it's at 600,000 per district and capped at that in 19XX. california contributes FAR more to the US GDP than Kansas, simply due to population.... thats like saying everything in the United Nations should be binding and every country should have the exact same power as every other country....wrong.
