steering angle sensor adjustment failure

Hi,
I was trying to initialize the steering angle sensor using ISTA/d but got an error Diagcode: D3450_DSC0000B_90_441. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I tried googling this but nothing came up.

A little background. My car is 328Xi 2008. One day, my left turn signal would not turn off, no matter what I do (flipping the signal stalk the other way and etc), it would not stop even when I pulled the key.. the only way to turn it off was to remove the negative wire from the battery (unplugging the battery). So I replaced the signal stalk module that contained a new steering angle sensor and as I read throughout the forum it requires initialization/calibration. at first, I tried to use the Tools32 > DXC_90.prg > (ignition on) double clicked on "lenkwinkel*dsc*abgleichen", but got an error "Error ecu conditions not correct or request sequence error". The cable has connection to the laptop; I could pull information of the car using INPA (could get the list of modules). So then I tried use ISTA/D, it read the car's information then I went to Service function, Vehicle something, steering angle sensor adjustment and got the error (from previous paragraph). I tried this with the engine on (because it seems that if only the ignition was on, ISTA/D would be stuck on recognizing the vehicle) and there was a question whether the SZL was replaced (which I selected yes). I tried this a few times and still the same error. Should I be doing something differently?

Thanks in advance.

Also, just to clarify. You replaced SZL with used one from?

Has this been coded to your car properly?

It has 5EBA and 94C2 under DSC. under EGS, its CF17. but I cleared this before trying to run the steering angle sensor adjustment.

also, I did not check the fault codes before replacing the stalk module, thinking that it must be the stalk module anyway. There was no error shown on the instrument console before replacing the stalk module.

Thanks

I bought a brand new SZL from an online bmw dealer. I thought I read in the forums that the E90, the SZL would be automatically coded when running the SAS adjustment? is there something else that needs to be done?

I don't think the SZL will be coded properly with just calibration. It may receive a VIN as calibration is requested in the DSC.

I'd suggest code the DSC to default with NCS-Expert and an expertmode profile. Then perform DSC and SAS calibration via ISTA-D Rheingold.

Alternatively ISTA-P will do the above automatically.

Also, have you actually tried clearing the fault codes now you've installed the new SZL? I know Zoe DSC jobs won't work when certain fault codes are stored.

ah I see. I did clear out the codes using INPA before proceeding with SAS adjustment. I will try to see if I can get ISTA/P working sometime this week (I think I saw a guide that you created).

Thanks.

If you use tool32 and do the same procedure you have described but look for DXC_87.prg then it will work but you need the steering straight forward posistion on a flat surface. Hope this helps, i had to make an accont because i just retrofitted cruise control and after 4 days of studying this coding i had to share my experience...
