QQ: Rough idle after valve / injector replacement
Hey all.
I'm trying to diagnose overfueling on cylinder 4 on my E91 320D N47TU2 It recently ate its own turbo, so has had two valves replaced, the valve seats and an injector However, I'm getting both a slightly lumpy idle (not noticeable above 1.5K RPM) and the following in INPA: This looks much worse than it is: It's passed it's MOT two weeks ago (Smog test) and there's no black smoke. So, the other thing of note is that there is a little diesel around the injectors. This could have just been when it was being put back together: I'll know more tomorrow when I get the rear engine cover off. Anyway, it could be that the bolts are not tightened to spec, but I'm wondering if it's something as simple as the new injector not being coded (the other injectors were sent off to be tested so it could be all of them) Could it be as simple as this? My DIS is broken at the moment, so I can't even see what the values are! |

I would clean the wet area with brake clean and blow it dry with a blow nozzle and some compressed air. Watch for wetness to re-appear easy way to trouble shoot the injector leakage issue (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT TO DO!!!!! 30,000 PSI, you crack a line it can split open your hand and kill you!) Sorry I digress.....
I would suspect the injector isnt coded. Common rail injectors are really fussy when it comes to timing, who did the work? |

Sp after doing exactly this, there's no new diesel
And thanks for the advice.... Whilst a relative newby around BMWs, I know common rail injection engines have hideous pressure... Didn't go anywhere near the charged part of the fuel. I'm rebuilding my VM today... will hopefully have some better news later |
