Do it! From a parts perspective, I would go the M3 route because I would imagine that they have much more after market support.

That's true. There are also many more M3s to choose from, even in the upper Mid-West. There was an interesting lookingg '97 M3 with a Dinan tune and CAI on craigslist recently, but it's gone now. It had over 100k but looked in good shape. Would have been a good starting point!

Spent the morning at Menards and O'Reilly's trying to find the parts for the so-called "$4DIY Front License mount." Ended up spending around $12 because I had to buy some plugs for the holes in my front bumper. Eventually I will have whole bumper painted and holes filled in.

EDIT: Added pics.

I also ordered some bumperplugs from bumperplugs.com

I'm not planning on going too crazy with race mods, at least initially. Need to drive the thing for hours on the highway just to get to any track from here, so would like to retain some creature comforts But, yeah, an E36 M3 would probably make the most sense for me.

Martin,

That looks great for the cost! Can you adjust the height of the plate at all? I wish I had looked into this before I bought mine from gominigo. Good job man.

Are you allowed to put it on your dash against your windshield? I've seen a couple of guys do that.

You can't do that. Besides scratching you dash, it becomes a projectile in a crash.

+1 on scratches and/or cutting your head off in the event of an accident.

Are you planning on using screws to mount the plate eventually? Would the plate be too high if you flipped the angle bracket the other way? That way the whole bracket would be hidden behind the plate.

There are only a few ways I can adjust the height.
1. Flip the L bracket.
2. Flip the Rope Clamp to that the bolts are pointing down.
3. Mount the plate through the bottom holes.

Yea, I will be using screws, I just forgot to buy them and the only thing I can use temporarily are zipties. I'm still getting used to the location. When I was walking to my car it seemed like it's sticking it's tongue out.

Turbo Chaps,

Here is something you might find interesting.

I saw peak boost of about 8.6 lbs on my stock car last night, which was pretty cold if you recall. Assuming stock peak boost is about 8 lbs, this 8.6 lbs is kind of counterintuitive. In colder weather, the ECU will reduce boost levels because colder is denser and has higher volume. Thus, theoretically, peak boost in cold weather will be lower than 8lbs. Alternatively, it will increase these levels in the summer because of less dense air.

Does this sound abnormal? I have no complaints, the car runs like a champ.

Cheers,
Anvar

Well, got the car back from Imola this afternoon. We (the wife and I) decided to go with 40% tint. IMO it is perfect! It looks like it could be stock, which was was I the look I was going for.

Big thanks to Kevin and his staff!

I'll try to get some pics up in the next day or so.

Nice! 40% is good enough that you probably won't get hassled for it.

Hey Guys,
So I've got a set of Vorshlag camber plates, and my roomate and I are going to replicate them and make a Vorshlag-Style camber/caster system. We'll make a small modification with the caster adjustment system. This will be the exact level of quality as the real Vorshlag plates, with the same (if not better) alloy steel, and they will be made via CNC Mazak and Waterjet.

http://www.vorshlag.com/product_info...roducts_id=199

I plan on selling these for $249 (Real ones are $400+) I really think these are simple to pump out on the CNC machines, and should not be marked up to $400. They can even be custom engraved!

I'll be starting with a set of 5, and posting pictures within the next few days!

Just for survey's sake, How would you feel, or think other people would feel, about buying these one-off camber plates? Would the cost of $249 tempt you?

Thanks for the ideas guys,

Brian.

I am curious, does anyone have a alarm/remote start in there car? I was looking to get one, but no one I talk to will touch a BMW. If all else fails, I will just go without one. It just would have been nice to get one put in.

IMHO RWD with good winter tires > AWD . Our forefathers all had rwd and they got around just fine in a lot more snow.

I believe it was done in the shop by an installer Kevin works with.

Brian,

My understanding is that camber plates are primarily for track use. Is this correct? Since I am not really planning on tracking my car, I am not sure how these will be beneficial for me.

Cheers,
Anvar
