Got an Android stereo unit...

I ended up getting this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/for-BMW-E90...72.m2749.l2649

Guys, anyone know if the constant power wire needs to be used? The installer said the harness has a constant power wire built into it but the unit also comes with a bundled up long yellow wire for constant power.

Also, SOS error is thrown when I start the car. How do I get rid of this?
Someone suggested parallel mounting the OEM radio to avoid this. Really? Is this the only way? Where would it go? Anyone got pics?

Thanks all!

You can program the SOS error out .
Find a coder in your area of visit the coding board
here. If you ever have to have a software update or
a module replaced that requires coding you will need to
remount the original head unit if you go to BMW for a repair.

There is a stereo sub forum an a coding sub forum here.

I have been considering purchasing something like this myself, but all I see are bad reviews. From the research I've done, everyone likes them for the first couple of months, after that not so much. I have yet to see one positive review or I would have already bought one. I'd be curious as to your experience with this head unit over the next 6 months to a year. I'd really like to see some positive reviews because I like the look of these. Have a friend of mine who is an installer and asked him about these. He stated they look great but the cheap electronics in them cause all sorts of issues and problems. He's done several of these and within 4-6 months he is taking them out and installing JVC or Kenwood units. Good luck and keep us posted!

With these cheap Android units its a case of
you get what you pay for or maybe you pay for what
you get. Most quality Head Units with all the features
are 2 to 3 times as expensive as the Dynavin Clones,
more like in the 750 to plus 1k range.

Got the Eonon one. It's pretty slick. Waze app crashes frequently on it though. Not sure about the native Google Maps app.

I had one for 6 months til the touchscreen stopped responding then i just reinstalled the factory unit.

For the price is a good deal, lots of functionality if you have a hotspot plan through your cell phone carrier. I used tasker to active the hotspot function as soon as it connected through Bluetooth to the head unit. So as soon as I cranked the car I had instant internet access on the head unit without having to get my phone out of my pocket.

Sound quality sucks.

The one I had was the previous version so it was really slow and it would freeze at times.

You need to code out the SOS message or wire/mount the original head unit in the trunk.

Honestly I wouldn't do it again, I'm perfectly fine with the factory unit.

If you want cost effective Bluetooth audio you can get CD emulator boxes for $150.

If you want a screen you can do a CIC idrive conversion for $600 or less.

The dynanav is kinda a joke since I could retrofit an NBT Next into my car for $1000.

This does quite a bit more than emulate a cd box .
Only works with pro radio and early nav's that supported cd changer though.

There is a review and installation guide on the stereo sub forum.

It's only meant to work with the stock head units.

So mine is the non idrive radio and phone only Bluetooth. Logic 7 or whatever but just the LCD matrix screen, can I still use one of these?

I currently have a plug in one for the aux jack but I can't do anything with the steering wheel.

Hmm, I've only used Carly and I didn't see an option for turning on the changer. Guess I'd have to learn and find the software.

Backstory: The first unit you see in the original post broke during installation. The shop took ownership and I bought a Eonon unit this time. Glad the first one broke. It was a cheaper one that most likely have gone bad by now. I use spotify and other music apps effortlessly on the Eonon.
