5mm Spacers safe for track/Autocrossing
Hello,
I've just received my new wheels and I am currently waiting for my new tires (Federal 595 RS RR 255 square) My wheels are 18x9 ET35 TR Motorsports MT1's and I am a little concerned about the fitment upfront. If need be I was thinking of running a 5mm spacer up front to clean the strut but I am unsure if this would be safe for track use as it takes away 5mm of the hub center that the wheels sit on. There should be 5-6 mm left but that still makes me uneasy. Do any of you guys use 5mm spacers at the track? |

Does your spacer have the hub centric ring? If not, you should really be careful with what kind of wheels you put on it.
How about the back of the your wheel? Is the mating surface to the hub center beveled? If it is, I would highly recommend against using any spacer that doesn't have a hub centric ring.

I'm aware of what he was asking and have 5mm spacers which are not wide enough to affect clamping power at all to affect his safety.

Yeah -- I "simplified" things by selling my dedicated Z3 race car, and sold my DD 335i. I've had the M3 now for 2.5 years and have loved every minute of it. While I've not always driven my best, I've been in the hunt for each year when it comes to rolling into Lincoln with a 5th out of 48 in 2016, and 12th last year at Nat's.
