What is your opinion on the best CCC "CarPlay" upgrade
I've been using an External Bluetooth Adapter that I hard wired into the system to stream to the AUX and that has been pretty nice.
But, the really old maps and CCC iDRIVE from 2006 is a bit over the hill. So fast forward 15+ years later and we have some pretty nice aftermarket options. I wanted to hear some opinions because they all basically seem the same (supposedly copies at various prices) and there are various reports about them being fantastic and good audio quality, and others stating they sound terrible, and work ok...and nearly all of them say the instructions don't exist, but you can find youtube video installation from community members. If some of you have purchased these types of systems for a CCC (not CIC) and have some opinions I'd like to hear about them. Mainly interested in stability and audio quality. https://www.carplay.lt/en/product/bm...2003-2008-most Bimmertech MMI Prime seems only for CIC Andream seems like a front-running option for CCC https://id-core.co.uk/product/bmw-cc...ace-2003-2009/ might be an option https://www.joyeauto.com/product/bmw...lay-interface/ might be an option There are some options it seems for mr12volt, and some others, but most seem to be really for CIC models. Its easy to get a little lost in the options and so many others are available on ebay as well with even more "no-brand-names". Thoughts? |

MMI from Andream would be my choice if it's anything like the unit I've got installed on my CIC. It's not perfect for but for the price, it's hard to beat.

I have tested most of the above for CIC and like the mr12volt the best. I have not tried a CCC as I can get CIC parts for under $200 from the Phoenix pull n save lots.

Thank you for the feedback; I've looked at their video. It uses the optical network which seems to be the only one that doesn't need to connect to the arm rest aux input. I've found one more that does this but uses the aux input https://integratedautomotive.co.uk/p...dia-interface/.
I guess it really is down to trying one of these systems and seeing which is the best option. Online lookup states that the CCC has a 640×240 pixel display. The CIC (which makes it a two step update, has 1280×480 pixels but then can be used with either head unit connectors and keeping the display. The andream display has 1280x480 pixels. @SMASS - When you did the CIC update; what was all involved in that? |

Google E90 CIC retrofit for many good DIYs. Once you read a few of them you can decide if you are comfortable completing the retrofit.

I'm using the AVINUSA unit with good success. Massive upgrade over the 15year old hardware and software.
