Help with part# for hood
I am having a very dificult time locating and purchasing this item. Went to 3 dealers and the parts dept have no clue. One said it was 51237162448 and ordered it but it was round and not the right part. The item in my photo has a shape like a trapezoid.
If you are curious, after a 500 miles round trip, i smelled rubber burning. But I could not figure out what was burning until 2 weeks later when I opened the hood and accidentally came into contact with the melted sticky rubber as seen in photo. There are 4 of these on the front edge of hood, only one melted. My car is 06 e90. Thanks for looking.

Bump. I spent hours on real oem looking at all the different components in the engine bay and trim and still cannot find the part. I would think a dealer should be able to locate this for me given the VIN #.
anyone?

Ok, 90 view and no comments. Bump...
Maybe you don't have this item on your car? It is possible that you might have a different looking part in which case it would be very helpful to know (round maybe) b/c that is what show up on the dealer computerized system when they put in my VIN#. Well, let hope that yours will not mysteriously started melting like mine.

If the round part is the only thing, I can always buy 4 and just replace all four pieces so they match. But I do not know how this piece is fitted onto the hood. I guess I will have to pull off the melted one soon so that it does not continue to make a puddle of melted rubber in that location. Once i pull it off, I will know how it is fitted onto the hood.
Any idea how it is fitted? glued on?

I am also looking for these, all four of mine have melted to some degree. The middle two are almost gone. Can anyone help us out? My deal and independent shop are lost.

You not gonna find this part. since all 4 of your have melted, I would not replace with the same part (even if you manage to find it). I would go with the round part. Look at another e90 (say 07 model) and get that round part (you only need 3 pieces and there are empty holes under the hood where you plug them in). Let me know if you decided to go that route.

I don't think that's the correct part# for stop buffer. Mine melted badly and I went to the dealership and got 4 of those and it just won't fit in the holes in the hood.
Does anyone know where to get the trapezoid rubber hood stop ? My last resort is go to Lowe's and custom make a set. Vincent |

I have the same issue. Opened the hood of my car, and when I reached under to unlatch had a gooey mess on my fingers.
BMW parts tech been there for 15 years has no idea what part that is. It appears to be on with adhesive only from what we could tell. Has anybody found a replacement for this part yet. 2006 325i purchased summer 2005 |

I have had the same problem. I tried looking for the part again and it doesn't seem like it is made anymore. All of the bmw sites show the new cylinder shaped part that everyone is talking about....
I think I found the old part number: 41612992997 Unfortunately, that does not come up with any results. Instead you get redirected to the new part that others have posted: 51237162448 http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-OEM-07-1...ZY9dbC&vxp=mtr It is super annoying but I guess I'll have to replace what is left of the pyramid shaped stoppers with these and hope the hood closes properly |

Bumper Stops
Yes I have the same issue. I believe that the original Polyurethane pyramidal bumper stops are a 3M item. They have an adhesive backing so you'll need to remove the old ones and the glue left behind with Isopropyl Alcohol and stick the new ones on.
They are 20 x 20mm square and 13.1mm high. The 3M part Number is SJ-5514 BLACK. They are available from Element 14 (Farnell) here:- http://au.element14.com/3m/sj-5514-b...1mm/dp/2674596 Or from eBay Here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3M-SJ5514-B...4AAOSwHsRYEksN |

I found the part #51237162448. Will this part fit in a 2006 E90 330i?
Are there holes in the hood that I can plug in this stopper? I read from previous post it is held by adhesive. |

I know—I’ve given all the info that BMW provides. Same part for both cars. Also, they don’t go in the same place on an LCI car, but further from the latch.

I have this problem on my 2006 330.
I can confirm that part number 51237162448 does not work. There is no hole under my rubber stopper + the new cylindrical piece (51237162448) is shorter. There are holes near the rubber stoppers that I can pop the new piece into, but they are not in effective places, the hood is able to move around. I’ve ordered a handful of the 3M parts from Digikey: SJ-5514 (BLACK), https://www.digikey.com/en/products/...4-BLACK/102591 Hopefully they work, I guess I’ll just keep replacing them if they do? |
