I just baked it. 215-225 degrees in the oven. 20 minutes. Makes sure all of the clips are off. Then use a molding separator/spreader pliers. You'll start to feel the glue separate from the plastic. Sounds like tearing. You may have to get a little bit, bake it again, and then go at it a few times before it separates but it works.

Afterwards you'll have to take a knife and scrape out as much as you can before you put the new headlight sealer in. Get a roll of it from Amazon. If you ever had to crack them open again that stuff softens up easy with heat.

You may have answered this already, but where is that air duct for the relocated inlets from?

I realized I had not put an update up in a while. I have been dealing with some things as well as the braking system not working.

I got the GTS hood installed. It speaks for itself.

I also got the Turner rear high kick spoiler on. It really compliments the lines of the car. I did a matte black to match the other highlights.

Everything has been on hold because when I got the whole brake system back together I couldn't get the brakes to work right. I'd get codes as soon as I tried to use the brake pedal.

Long story, air leak codes. Bled the brakes a dozen times. When you start the car, and it's running, the pedal goes to the floor with no effort. Turns out it is most likely a bad brake booster.

I've ordered a new brake booster and a new master cylinder. Just so I replace both just in case it's either.

I found this ender the dash. You can hear air escaping when you press the pedal.

Well I yanked out the brake booster and master cylinder and replaced them with a new set, ATE, from FCP.

Did NOT resolve my issues.

Well, this didn't solve anything. Afterwards I bled manually a few times.
I got a bunch of air out of 3 of the lines, as there would of course be a bunch of air, but oddly I did not get a huge air pocket of out the rear left. Which is where I got the codes from. Not seeing those big bubbles felt wrong.

I did the powered test through ISTA. Outcome was the same. I can now tell that there is not enough brake stiffness in the pedal with the car off for it to be 100% without air. It should be almost rock hard when you press down on it. It wouldn't have that much give to it if it was free of air. I even went to my other e92 and my Land Rover and felt their brake pedals just to contrast.

There has got to be air in there.

This weekend I am going to reseat all the new SS lines. Check for leaks. Also, the Bentley manual says the brake pressure bleeder is supposed to be at 29psi, not the 18 I was going for. I'll give that a try too.

I think there is a bunch of air stuck in the DSC pump or the bubbles are not getting out the other end of the RL lines. I may yank the new lines off that side and check everything.

It sucks as during the test drive the DCT seems to be shifting great now. The throttle response seems to be much better. Now if I could just get the brakes to work....

Damn man, this car has been a labor of love. I'm so excited to see her finally up and running like she should be. I'm almost as eager to see it as if it were my own haha. Keep up the good work!

Hood is off eBay. I think this version is coming to ColoradoN5X though. eBay is always a risk. What I got off eBay I would say was a 8.7 out of 10 for quality and finish. The Seibon M3 style I got is flawless. Much better quality but I much more prefer that F80 M4 look as it just fits the LCI looks more to my liking. I may honestly just paint match it to the car someday.

Sorry I have been out so long. Got divorced and became a single father last year. So, project cars became a lower priority.

After so many repeated tries to bleed the braking system, I'm done with this thing sitting in the garage anymore. The rest of the major work is going to professionals.

- Next Wednesday I am having the car towed to a performance shop I have talked to. They are mostly BMW and do a lot of M3 work.
- They will resolve the braking issues and verify the DCT levels. I couldn't get the ISTA program to work so I want the DCT filled exactly to the level it needs to be.
- Once that is done I will drive the car over to an alignment shop so I can get a full alignment done. New coil overs, bushings, end links, rebuilt steering rack - so everything needs to be adjusted. I can't wait to finally FEEL what the difference is. After all the susp work, the car hasn't gone above 35mph.

- Then I am dropping off the car at a paint shop on the north side to get a bunch of small details done. Get the front bumper and side skirts corrected or redone, then a full paint correction. Also, get them to dial in the bumper and hood alignment.

- When I get the car back from the body shop I'll have the window trim ready to install. That's all getting shot in satin black.

- Then a quick tint job. The windows having zero tint, on a black car, with a cream beige interior, looks ridiculous. When you look at the car the interior pops out at you instead of the exterior. Especially when it's sunny.

Plus no one needs to look at my project whore face.

After all of that, the only real work left to do is tune the engine. As that doesn't involve getting things dirty anymore....thank GOD....I can then actually start refinishing some of the interior bits. Refinish both seats, the driver door panel, and a few details. Do a full detail and shampoo the carpet. I didn't want to do any of that until the engine work is done and any shop hands don't dirty up the interior.

That cream beige is so easy to blemish. It looks crisp but it's almost as bad as having a white matte interior.

So, hopefully by March the car will be back on the road and looking great. Then I'll work on the interior, and just get it out and finally enjoy it.

I would really love to get this out to some meets and join Caffeine and Octane this summer.

Well, today is the day.

Off to get the mechanic final touches taken care of. Then we will start a small tour around town for alignment, tint, and paint correction. I am hoping to have it back in the garage in about 2-3 weeks. I mean...it's winter and rainy anyways. I've realized recently this car is only going to stay nice and black after paint correction staying out of the rain and garage kept.

I tell you what, seeing it on the back of that truck made me finally realize how nice it is starting to look. The last few touches I'm putting on the car is really going to change how I feel about it. I mean, some projects last so long you just feel like finishing and just selling it. I think when these last touches are done I'm finally going to realize I have a proper touring car that's prefect for track days and car shows.

Nice shot of the engine bay.

Yeah, I was actually sitting down with a friend yesterday at lunch, who has a lot of track time here locally, and we are looking forward to getting it out on Road Atlanta and seeing how fun it is. It's no time attack car but I'm going to tune it to just be a fun, reliable, and a confident car to drive around the track and be an experience on the streets.

So, the shop got back with me yesterday. They tried every way possible to bleed this thing and can't get it to flush out the air. They said everything is acting like it has a bad master cylinder.

I gave them a call, as I actually replaced the brake booster, check valve, and master cylinder after I had the same issue beforehand with the original hardware. He had a talk with the team and they really think that I may have gotten a bad new master.

So I am overnighting a new one from FCP (OE ATE part ~$141) and I'll speak with FCP about getting a refund on the original.

I'll run that over there as soon as it comes in and we'll keep going forward.

There is a guy on Etsy that does these. Laser cut aluminum. I got a matching set for hood, trunk, and steering wheel.

Does it fly off and get lodged in your skull when the airbag goes off?

Yes. If I wreck my car I installed an auto suicide deployable device. As I would no longer have the will to live.

That being said I may pull it off and epoxy it in place. Lol.

Just got the call that the car is done. I'll pick that up and drop it off for a full alignment tomorrow.

They mentioned that it idles rough but agreed that would be from the base Wedge tune. They said I need to up the idle RPM due to that and the SMFW.

They also mentioned the steering and alignment. Of course the steering angle is way off and the alignment sucks as the entire suspension was replaced. so that's going in tomorrow.

Other than that, they said everything looks good. If the alignment is done by tomorrow night, I'll get it out on the highway on Sunday and put in the last miles of break in. Finally get a feel of what the car is like fully aligned and with the new coilovers.

Next week I'll probably drop it off for paint and paint correction. Then a quick tint job so all of the outside work is done. Then I can get the splitter kits installed and I'll be done. Then onward to the interior when I have the time on the weekends. That's just some light DIY work.

We are about a month away from some finished product pictures people!!
