Engine Light/juddering
Hi Guys,
Wondering if anyone can help diagnose or speculate about a problem which has just occurred on my car (08 E92 330 Petrol Manual). I was on the M3, changed into 6th and engine light came on and the car was juddering. I slowed down and drove 50 and got off the motorway, but now I'm stuck out in deep surrey. I rang my local specialist in Acton who was reluctant (understandably) to diagnose it over the phone, but said it may be OK to drive it slowly to get it home, but was totally non-committal (again understandably!) Any speculation? Another guy I rang said it could be a coil or spark plug and also said something about the fuel pump? What do you think is best to do? I need to get 37 miles back to London. Do you reckon I should drive it or ring the RAC and get it dropped at the garage? Really appreciate any help/advice you can offer. Can totally understand it's virtually impossible to know without looking at it. Nightmare. Thanks all. Last edited by E92 Jak; 01-27-2023 at 08:50 AM.. |

It's probably a coil/ spark plug or injector issue.
Engine light will be due to a misfire. I'd fit a new set of 6 new bosch coils and plugs. I do have a spare set of coils (bosch) that have done about 10k miles. I replaced them without realising they were done on a recall but they aren't expensive to buy new, about £25 each. If it remains then it is on to replacement injectors. |

Thanks for your reply, really appreciated.
I started the car up after about an hour and it drove fine and no engine light. I've driven it a few times and no problems? It's due a service, so will get the spark plugs & coils replaced. Hopefully will be all good. Many thanks, |
