Hi Carl

Due to my disappointment with the car's general performance (not just at Santa Pod), Jules suggested I search for an oil leak (evident by a residue collecting on the drip tray, visible between the grill and radiator) which could be responsible. Low and behold, the residue was there and as the car was booked in with my dealer for brake replacement and an oil change, I asked them to check it out. There was a leak, they replaced a (vacuum?) hose and it's like driving a completely different and very quick car, once again!

Big respect to Jules for pointing me in the right direction , the guy really knows his stuff!

Next stop is down to Evolve with Jules to put both cars on the rolling road for back-to-back comparison!

NOW POSTED ON THE TECHNICAL FORUM!

Hi mate, glad its sorted, but confused how a ''vacuum hose'' could leak oil?

Did they replace anything else?

Not to my knowledge.

I'm not particularly technical, but Jules will probably be able to enlighten you as to what they would have actually done. In fact it might be worth posting this in the technical forum, as I know he had the same problem which could ultimately turn out to be a common issue on re-mapped cars!

No probs Simon, glad to be of help, the 6th is a goer with me so let me know if it's good with you also.

I've mentioned this a few times but it seems to go unoticed, here was the last time I mentioned it - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241949

Probably best if I put a thread up in the Tech section.

Jules.

Is it a oil hose or vacuum hose?

Vacuum hose does not have oil flowing through it ?

Can you explain a little more Jules pls.

Only too happy to assist, CD; I don't want anybody having to experience what the family and I went through that night.

To rub salt into the wound, it cost me about 9,000 to get out of the finance deal (they didn't take the car in the end, as the Blackjax anti-hijack needed the code putting in before you could start it and, like a true twat, I wouldn't give it to them!) as I had to drop my obsession with Japanese rally reps, or get a new Mrs!
