Clutch and Suspension Lifetime

How long on average should a clutch and suspension last before needing to replace them? I have a'07 328I with 75K miles on it and the original clutch and suspension. The brakes were changed a few months ago.

Totally different car, but on my 1998 Nissan with 195k, the clutch is still original and functions fine. Shocks/struts have never been replaced. With the high cost of maintaining BMW's, I'd like my 335i to follow suit. But seems like there is no track record because many lease and never have the car more than 36,000 miles. My cousin had 220k on his E36 M3, and did get a new clutch, but I forget at what mileage...

My e46 (gave it to my bro-in-law as a gift) has 184,000 miles and original springs/shocks/struts.

Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

When I traded my E46 with 97,000 miles, the original clutch and suspension were fine, with the exception of the Lower Control Arm Bushings - apparently a 50,000 mile maintenance item.

I have 186K on the original clutch on my Volvo. I changed the struts and shocks at about 140k.

Depends on how you drive and what you drive on. Based on the mileage you have put on the car before you replaced the brakes I would guess that you might get another 75 k-miles from the clutch. The suspension gets different workout on poor roads than on good ones, and its deterioration is slow and less noticeable. With 75 k-miles on the car, you should look whether you should not replace the shocks.

My old E36 had about 112K miles on it when I traded it in. The clutch was starting to go at that point. I had my brakes replaced at least twice and the bushings as well. I don't think I bothered fixing the shocks.

Both are HIGHLY dependent on usage and driving style.
