You guys on mainland Europe are so lucky. All the aftermarket headers are made for left-and drive cars - so not available for us in the UK.

N53- DI and not valvetronic. Bummer, MILVs won't work on this engine.
But maybe those cool 'header' like N53 exhaust manifolds would fit the N52 head and E9x chassis. |

They definitely will fit N52 because I replaced my N53 heders with N52 aFe headers. But why N53 headers when you can get free flow aFe headers?

I've been looking at aFe header for 2 years now. I remember when they were 1200 then the pricing has gone up up up to 1500 with the same design no changes, no thanks... i don't know why active won't make the same design for a cheaper price.

I can only imagine that you guys are looking at catted headers because you're required to for emissions testing purposes. If I was in your boat, I'd be all over some euro OE headers.
AA/SS for me.. one of these days =P (when the warranty is up heh). |

Nice Job on the ram intake! I like the all orange touches on your car.
Your pics gave me a few ideas in case what I’m planning won’t work out. (I just ordered the tubing and connections for my ram project a few days ago!) On my car I found a panel blank behind a grill next to the fog light which looks like a perfect place for the ram intake. I have a aftermarket MTech bumper. |

You don't have a tunnel on this place for air to the brakes?

I believe our brake duct tunnels begin in the center grille area of the bumper, at least that's how it is for mine (LCI). I want to say that some 335i / 335is(verts) have duct tunnels that begin next to the fog lights that supply the auxiliary radiators/intercoolers? Biginboca, you may want to look into getting a 335is 'vert ducting piece that goes next to that fog light.. could help with a clean install. That said, the IS is of course LCI so I'm not 100% sure it would help.. but I know of guys with pre-LCI that have used LCI parts in that area.

I did similar project on my car, but on US version Lci bumper with \euro box it was pain in the ass to install proper way. That is lot easier to do on US air box

And yes my brake ducts are in the center portion of the lower grill so that panel blank is free to be exploited, lol |

I've recently learned that the BMW Performance intakes actually (supposedly) draw additional air down the side of the engine bay from the windshield cowl area. I wonder if there could be a way to "DIY" that idea.

I'll try to find some tomorrow. If you look closely at the setup (installed), there is an inlet that stealthily attaches to the top of the box (opposite of the main inlet) and that connects to another piece that also comes with the PI kit that I believe you mount in the little area that runs along side the engine bay where it meets the drivers side fender. I only learned this because one day I was looking at the kit and I was like "what the heck are all of these extra little pieces for?" Pretty cool. Wonder if it makes a difference though heh.

Wonder if those OE euro headers will pass our emissions. I’m guessingg it might as it looks like our headers are designed for maximum cold start effectiveness.
Did not know about those euro units. |
