Hi Noxious!

Just put your name in the GB list. I don't see why schulrog is unable to ship to nearby Canada when he had already shipped to Bangkok and subsequently to Singapore for mine.

Im a noob! Not really sure how to add my name to the list.

I'd also like to see a price for each component just so I can get an idea of what I'm spending.

i really don't know any pricing yet until i get everything in hand since i have to also consider the shipping cost from germany...

guys don't worry... i'll make it so the price doesn't get too overwhelming and i'll try my best to keep the price as low as possible.

Park button is not functional. I guess bmw is attempting to add a parking brake like in older vehicles by the foot area had or the new ones now have a button to puch to engage the parking brake.

  • Remove original shifter
  • Place new shifter and boot to gait. (Here there will be a new wire harness hanging from end side of new shifter.)
  • There are three unmistakable plugs to plug into the new shifters wiring harness
  • Place shifter onto shaft, adjust harness so it won't get tangled or pinched
  • Center and lock gait
  • Admire your work by turning on car

Someone had asked me sometime ago how did I like the shifter height? Again, the height does not bother me, but I thought looked into further how to lower it without cutting the shifter stalk. I soon found a culprit. If you'll notice on the back side of the shifter cover, there's a rib that prevents the shifter unit from being located at a lower height.

I got out my handy dandy Dremel tool and trimmed off this item. Now the shifter sits approximately 1/4 lower than before. Not much, but it does help some.

It's a nice conversation piece at the dealership and car meets.

(2) Questions for shulrog:

Is the modification shown above to lower the shift knob by 1/4" without cutting the shift lever work OK? If so, can you do this prior to sending out - I really am not crazy about cutting the lever and I don't want knob sticking up too high either

Do we have to get the new design baseplate with the chrome trim? I'm not liking it and would rather keep the factory baseplate with the existing shift indicator. If not getting the new plate is the price different?

i'll give it a shot and test it out to see how it sits.

It looks more OEM with the new baseplate but i'm sure it's possible. someone else actually had it done at a leather shop.. i'll have him send me a pic Plus you could always sand and paint the baseplate any color you want

It was me, I got the old boot leather stitched to the new shifter, here are a few pics.

I have not installed it yet as I got the wrong one, I need a RHD shifter, not that it makes any difference but I want the button on the right.

Might be selling this if Roger doesn't do a swap for me??

Will you be doing the testing on the shifter's 100% functionality on an actual E9x personally ? If so, do you mind documenting the process of the retrofitting with photos (just a simplified one covering the important steps will do) ? It will be very useful for us when we DIY the installation as these photos will speak a thousand words.
