335i: Porterfield R4-S front and rear brake pad interest

I’m sure most of use have been waiting for a decant set of front and rear replacement brake pads set to appear of the market. I wanted to see if there is any interest in them. If there is enough interest (we need a lot people) then Porterfield will make them fairly quickly and a supporting vendor can arrange a group buy. The weekly wheel cleaning is enough to make anyone put there name of the list below.

Porterfield R4-S will give you better modulation and than the OEM pads. The Carbon/Kevlar composite is one of the few compounds that have outstanding cold braking attributes which is must for the daily drive. The coefficient of friction is about 0.4 so they are about 25% stronger than OEM pads. The temperature rage is rate at 1100 F so about 40% better than the OEM pads. The pads are design to be used for street, autocross and light track use. Like any good pad these do dust but no even close to what the OEM pads. The dusting is about 90% less.

The cost would problem be around 230.00 for both front and rear set which based on another BMW model with similar brake pad size.

The fitment will have to be compatible with OEM brake sensors and spring clip of course.

If you interested please add you’re yourself to list and when the list get big enough I will present this to the manufacture. This is for front & rear pad sets only.

I have talked with Porterfield myself over the years..if you give them the backing plates..they will so whatever you want. But it isnt cheap for one offs.

Sorry, but why is this necessary? they already have the shapes for fronts and rears.

I've bought R4 fronts and SG335 has bought rears in another compound.

They have the shapes already and will put different compounds on, no problem.

I would offer them one step more...completely engineering documentation to make them. I got access to a CMM so I can give them data with 0.001" of the both front and rear pads. I know there are number associated with the pads but I not sure if this is generic dimensional information or just a label. There is no point in making the pads if they don’t account for brake wear sensor and good spring clip and shim fitment.

There not going to make them unless there a fair amount of interest. So far going by this thread they may have good reason not make them. Will need a bout 40-50 people then they get a small return to get it going.

My brakes and rotors are done now and thump like crazy at 8000 km.

Yes based on my research I've seen plenty good reviews on them. Currently have 340mm front rotors and calipers from the f30 335i with power stop pads and those pads are absolute garbage so looking forward to running these
