E90 330D rear folding seats retrofit?
Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone has or knows how to retro fit rear folding seats In a 2006 E90 330D?
I believe it was an optional extra and my car does not have this optional extra. It would be super handy if it could be retrofitted. Thanks! Last edited by Processing61; 11-05-2019 at 03:51 PM.. |

E91 being a touring would be very different to an E90 no? My E92 has got them which would be more similar.
As I understand it E92’s has it as standard whereas it was optional on E90’s. That seems weird to me, almost the oppersite of what I’d expect. The ‘loon being more of a family car than the coupe..... |

So BMW get to sell it as an option rather than giving it away.
The internal differences in shape between the e90 and e91 really only come into play behind the rear seats. I'd say you could expect a fair bit of similarity. |

Forgot to reply. Thanks for the help guys. I have a good idea of what I need to do and what parts I need now, the hardest part is going to be finding rear folding seats in grey leather. Until I get my hands on them I won’t bother with anything else

I have a rough parts list now and will begin collecting all the parts soon. Still waiting to try and find a set of the rear folding split seats in the grey leather.

You say you've been looking and not much about in specific colour etc so waiting you may not find another set for a while or in the condition. Plus when they do come up could be the same sort of price. If you really want to do it then just go for it. It's £200 that will make a bigger difference to your use of your car so the offset it worth it in my eyes.

Just wondering if anyone can help me out to find parts. I have almost found everything I need but there is a few bits I’m unsure of or cannot find. For reference I am based in the U.K. I have been using real oem with my vin FG87282. Also my colour code is Dakota grey/LCAD.
P/N 1374075. Expanding nut ST 4.8 - There seems to be different variations and I’m not sure which is correct. P/N 5220 7161259. Supporting bracket centre X 1 - I cannot find this anywhere. P/N 0714 7161279. Fillister head screw with collar, M10x15 X 2 - I cannot find this I then want to put the rear folding seat centre seat belt setup in, so the current belt would not just dangle and get in the way when the seats are folded but I have checked on real oem but am not sure what parts I’ll need to do this. I have found this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F312816066173 But I’m not sure if it’s correct and then what lower part it will be. Then finally there is a few parts which I have read about some people using but I’m not sure if I need these; Cap, Lock Tongue, PN 5146 8208863 x1 Rear Parcel Trim Crossmember - 51 4 67 123 386 x1 Trim Counterplate - 51 4 67 140 774 x2 I anyone can help me out with the above, that would be much appreciated. |

I ended up putting the bracket over the smaller seats shaft first, then inserted the shaft into the larger seats portions hole, then offered the seat into position, put the right side bracket into its slot, loosely fastened the left and right bracket and then struggled for a while to get the two torx screws in the rear passenger side bracket. Lots of different socket extensions and flexible extensions etc until they finally screwed in. Did not think that that part would be so hard. I did record a video of the process which i will put together at some point. |

I have compiled a how-to style video showing the process of how I retrofitted the folding seats in my e90. I hope this helps someone:
