What Brakes For e93 335i?
Hi All,
Discs and pads need doing and BMW have quoted over £700 which I won't be opting for. My BMW indy can fit them for £120 so what are the best ones to get and from where? Thanks! |

Last time I got discs I got Pagid from ECP and I always use Textar pads, again from ECP usually, or try car parts for less which are the same company as ECP but only do mail order delivery.

Why not look at a set of used F30 380mm brakes?

I currently have Ate discs with Brembo pads, I've had both Brembo & Pagid discs & would say the Ate ones are better.
I used to run ceramic pads but recently reverted back to non ceramic as I found the ceramics were destroying the discs, steering wheel shuddering under braking within a few thousand miles. I bought the Ate's & pads from ECP, discs were £131 for the pair & £46 for the pads with a discount code. With black friday coming up should be some good discounts available Changing pads & discs is a very easy diy, with the help of a good Utube video to show you how

If you drive fast and hard, OEM rotors and pads can not be beat. Lear to do the install yourself and save the money for install.

ATE or genuine BMW discs is what you want. Textar pads (OE manufacturers) are good, unless you need/want anything special. |

Another shout for Zimmerman Perforated Z coat with Akebono pads Great combo.
Just had to change the front discs and pads of these brands after the cars covered just over 40K of hard driving since I fitted them back in 2015 so they have lasted very well. Minimal break dust from those pads as well |

I'm assuming that unless you are tracking your car....drilled and slotted rotors are a waste of money, and might even be worse on the street since the pads are contacting less material on the rotor?

Correct!
Not so much about the smaller contact area...just that plain discs are more than adequate for normal use, so the grooves and holes will only serve to drain your wallet (by devouring pads, and initial outlay), and probably annoy you by being noisy. |

Over 40K on one set of pads I thought that was pretty good to be honest specially the way I drive. Maybe some expect the pads to last a lifetime
Also I've never noticed any noise from the brakes ever. Still its all good, plenty of options out there to choose from. |

yup,ite the un educated that think the drilled/slotted/grooved/dimpled are gonna stop u better and look better,,they can also develop cracks and the rust that shows trough on drilled looks awful,,im a zimmerman fan now and cheaper than pagid which i always bought,,mine look great,,they still look like mirrors after a drive and they were done one 13 months ago on my 330d,,same on my 335d been on since feb...also dont rust "z coat" ie zinc

They do my head in with the constantly varying prices and discount amounts (yes, both change!), but I do still order from them most often. |

Currently on oem blanks with hawk hps 5.0 front and ebc reds in the rear. Cant wait to have fresh brakes again. Will be trying out motul rbf 600 as well. No track just obeying the speed limit. |
