Best motor oil for 330i

What would be the best motor oil for my car besides the preferred oil sold at the dealership. I need to get an oil change done cause right now I'm roughly at 65k miles on my car. My mileage is horrible because of it. 1 full tank of gas only got me to 240 miles.... So this oil change must be done.

I know some of you are going to tell me to use the search button but I couldn't find anything on 330i's. They only had a thread going on for 335i's.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I use Castrol Ow30 (aka "German Castrol") in my 330i. The BMW brand oil is good and you can can get an oil change kit (including filter) from Tisher online. Mobil 1 0w40 is excellent and my local Napa has it on sale for $5 a quart. Just get what ever LL01 oil is the best deal and a Mann filter.

Rumor has it... that if you opt to not use the oem recommended oil and something happens to your car, they will take an oil sample and send it to the lab for testing. If they can prove you are not running the oem spec oil, they can void your warranty and you will have to foot the bill for damages that would have otherwise been covered.

I say stick to oem spec oil.

That is true. It is Castrol Syntec anyway so you're still using a synthetic oil. just stick with OEM. The engineers designed the engine to run with that exact oil.

Ahh ok cause last time I put oil in the car I was using Mobil 1 5W-30 so that probably explains the sudden decrease in gas mileage?

Which is pretty funny cause when I called my dealership they actually recommended that I use that oil instead of OEM.

I had a dealer price match $58 for the 7 qts. + filter.

No sense trying to save some cash here. Not worth it compared to the potential risk.

It is cheaper to buy a case than buy a few quarts from your local dealer. Just a heads up...

if you can't get to the dealer to pick up some oil, get one of the synthetic oils on bmws approved oils list:

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...ngineOils.aspx

Castrol Syntec European Formula SAE 0W-30

Valvoline SynPower SAE 5W-30

Oh no don't get me wrong. I've gotten the routine maintenance done. I should reword what I said. This is MY first oil change done on the car(first time doing an oil change on a car). The car has been serviced and my engine is still running like a beaut
