Go out a try it.

There are lots of things bmw doesnt want you to know-you find all the hidden menus by holding down your odo reset? Like digital speed and tach read outs, engine temp read out and lots of other goodies? I bet now-thats cause they dont tell us any of the cool stuff!!
Digital Speed : ) sounds interesting can you give me more info on how to do this? Thanks

say this works. How often do you have to keep resetting it because it will eventually "adapt" to your driving behavior and have lurchy starts again?

We need to completely remove adoptive throttle control. It's lame.

Awesome thread... "How to hack your BMW". lol

My theory is, (assuming this works) people who bought their BMW new have been driving it more or less the same since day one and the trans. got used to it, so when you "reset" the trans. it's obviously not going to make a huge difference. But people who bought used (like me) most likely drive different than the last owner so it's still trying to adjust, maybe?

Also, is this going to void warranties or piss off your technician? (please forgive my insolence if it was a stupid question)

This is THROTTLE ADAPTATION RESET for AT... you don't have to press the gas for 25 seconds...only 5 seconds... but you have to wait 2 minutes before starting the engine

Are you sure? I heard in order for that procedure to work you had to park your car facing Mecca.

In another thread on the general e9x forum, this same procedure is claimed to reset the "adaptive throttle" settings...

I think somebody is confused!

after holding the gas for 10 seconds it starts the 12 minute electric water pump venting cycle, used after a coolant change... referenced here....http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=coolant+flush

pretty sure thats what you are hearing.

For those of who with no results, try this?:

1) hit start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
2) then press the accelerator down to the floor for 5 sec
3) then hit start button once to turn off power
4) then remove foot from accelerator
5) then wait for 2 minutes
4) then start the engine like normal and try it out!

(This was from F10 board)

I have tried different versions of this "reset" and none really felt any different to me. BUT, following this procedure my car was definitiely more responsive while accelerating and had better response with less throttle tip in. I had faith that something like this could work, becasue I would follow a similar procedure in my old Acura and that car would feel like a new car, at least for that trip!

Thanks for posting.
