For my lower radiator hose my car originally came with one that doesn't have the temp sensor on the top like this. It's just a straight hose.
![]() but most of the replacement I found online are only like this. Am I still able to use this as a replacement or should I keep looking for one without the sensor. Because when I attached a hose like this, it was able to attach onto the radiator and the thermostat but once I start filling coolant in the reservoir, it started leaking out the extra part once the level got high. Or did I just put too much coolant in my system ? |

So it doesn't matter if I have a sensor already in the engine bay or if my fan is connected somewhere else ?

I see one on Rockauto (Continental) without the sensor port. At least I did not see it here. I would suggest that you look on Rockauto first.
![]() https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=10068&jsn=455 ![]() https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...tor+hose,10068 If you already have the hose and cannot return it, then you will just be using the sensor on the lower radiator hose as a plug. In that case, use the $5.79 Uro one from Rockauto. No sense spending for a $20-25 one. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=4748&jsn=425 Or take your pick, use the one for the lower radiator hose, not the cylinder head ones: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...+/+sensor,4748 |

![]() You would just be using the sensor to make the seal on the hose. |

Also there was another issue when i started the car, the radiator fan started blowing on high even with the fan off , any reason for so. Is it the sensor ?

If so, the sensor is not doing anything. —> Quote:

I am assuming you have an airbag light? The wire looks to be cut close to the connector. You may/will need a used connector with extra wire attached to it to splice it in. Last edited by Serf27; 01-29-2023 at 02:15 AM.. |

Yes, I install the hose with the new sensor. Alongside with a new sensor in the engine bay I see, that's strange. Because I did just start my car yesterday and the fan wasn't doing that. Only after the battery died during the bleeding process and I got a jump start. Anyway to test the water pump ? Ah that makes sense, my airbag light has been on. So I would just need to get another BST cable and splice the old one and new one |

So something strange happened.
I tried using my old temp sensor to see if the fan would still be running on high. It didn't but the fan wasn't running at all https://streamable.com/frnm4s I then tried using the new sensor again, and the fan was running on high again. https://streamable.com/1bomm9 As for my water pump. This is how it's been running https://streamable.com/32g4jk |

That does sound odd.
Non of your codes suggest a water pump issue. I would clear those errors and see if they return. They may have came up with the battery was low. Where did you get the new sensor from? Why did you change your old sensor out? The fan does not run all the time. Let the car reach operating temperature to see if the fan turns on. (With the old sensor in place) Turn the AC switch on too. You don’t need a new BST cable. You need a new connector that plugs into the BST cable. I think I have a few if you want to send me a PM. Your oil filter housing gasket (OFHG) leak is pretty bad. I would address that asap. |

If you can put your old sensor back in, I’d do it and see if the fan turns on when the car is warmed up.
Have you heard the fan turn on while driving (before swapping the new sensor)? The new sensor los aftermarket and some aftermarket parts either work or they don’t. I suspect the new sensor doesn’t work. The DME codes are the only concerning ones. This thread has a lot of good info regarding those 2 codes and may help you diagnose/fix them. https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/2...-2a77.1300661/ |

Yeah I put back my old sensor. I solve the error codes that was putting my car in limp mode, was a battery issue. And I got the car running again, I drove around for a while and I still didn't notice the fan coming on. But it wasn't overheating either so I'm not too sure
