Ista / Laptop requirements help please

I have a new-ish laptop with a 120Gb SSD and roughly 85Gb space on the drive. Getting the impression this may not be enough to download/install Ista, can anyone confirm or otherwise?

Is it possible to download to an external hard drive and install from there with the disk space I have, or some other work-around?

That wont be enough by a long shot mate.

I've tried it on a 500gb ssd and its just about enough, its its not really good enough

Im now running a 1tb ssd and its just enough for ISTA d/p and e-sys and ncsexpert.

Bite the built and get a 1tb ssd.

You can download to an external drive, but unless its a ssd and usb3 then it will be woefully slow.

What I did was clone the drive in now and then use that to export to the new ssd and then expand the drive in to the 1tb space.

That way you dont need to install from newm.

I have ISTA on a 120gb ssd, it's barely enough on windows 8, didn't fit with windows 10. The trick is to extract the installation files to a USB and install from there, saves you over 20gb right there.

Of course this is if you're only using the laptop for diagnostics, because it'll be pretty close to full.

Thank you both. It's a Win10 machine so a bigger drive looks inevitable. I'll look into the easiest/cheapest route.

Appreciate the help and advice.

I run it on an old laptop running Windows 7 with a 160GB HDD, but that's all it gets used for, coding & diagnostics.
