Passenger mirror tilt In reverse not working?

This is the first bmw I have where the reverse tilt on the passenger mirror doesn't work . Does it need to be coded ? I have manual seats . I checked my idrive there is no option for it either unfortunately

It only works with the adjuster switch set to the drivers side, so it took me months to realise it had it LOL.

There's nothing on the iDrive about it though.

Mine is a 60 plate with manual seats and does it, my pre LCI 56 plate didn't do it though and not sure if it could be coded on earlier cars.

I had the switch set drivers even followed the guide from m3 cutters but nope it doesn't even attempt to move when put in reverse .

Does it work when you try to adjust it manually, so to speak?

Yes I can adjust it normally and the drivers too but it won't dip or try and dip .

This was an option no? Mine does it but my sons lci doesn’t. If it’s just a coding thing he’d like it done as it’s a very useful feature.

I have the build sheet for mine with all the options listed, 313 exterior mirror package is the only thing that it could be. Possibly something that can be coded though.

Out if interest what year & model are yours and your sons cars and do either of them have electric folding mirrors?

Mine has electric folding mirrors, wonder if it's that.

Yeah that could be the key. Mines a 2006 with power seats and power fold mirrors. His is a 2010 with manual seats and non power fold mirrors. I’ve also got dimming mirrors which he hasn’t so do remind him occasionally 😂

A quick Google has answered it, I was correct...

Option 313: Exterior mirror package
Electrically foldable exterior mirrors.
Automatic dipping function for front passenger side mirror in reverse gear etc

If you don't have electric folding mirrors you'll need hardware as well (mirrors & controls), I'm not sure if you can just code the standard mirrors to dip in reverse.
