MHD and Ontario Gas?
I have recently switched to the MHD Tune. Curious about Gas as the tune offers different pump fuel options. I have always used Shell 91 but wondering what other Local MHD users are using and what tune/fuel option they are running? Is Shell 91 the best option for us on pump?
Thanks,

I use Petro 94 but I don't know if it's really any better than Shell. I would say start with the 91 octane tune and log to see if your car is pulling timing. If so, go down to the 91 ACN/CAD tune.

Petro 94, although ive heard husky94 is good as well.
On the jb4 it was clear how much cleaner my logs would be on 94 vs 91. I cant say shell is the best option, considering its lack of octane. If your goal is to make power, no reason to settle for less. I used 94 on the 91 map and it looked good, ive since flashed the 93oct map, MHD said it should be fine, logs will tell. The best thing to really do is get a custom tune, that way it optimizes whichever fuel youre running. I would want the most octane as i can get though, coming from jb4 and meth, to mhd, im hoping a custom tune will fill that void of lost power from meth. |

If I am unable to access 94 octane is it best for me to just stick to the ACN 91 map? |

We just started getting chevron 94, I haven’t had a chance to test it yet. I don’t know about the esso 93 you guys get in Ontario. Either way, your better off running a 91 map on 94 Canadian gas. You guys at sea level might have a better shot at running a little more. Last edited by fredcase; 01-04-2020 at 05:24 PM.. |

I think the acn maps are the most conservative. Regular 91 maps slightly more aggressive.
You may want to start low, monitor your timing pulls, and work up if possible. I'm pretty sure the only thing the octane maps change is timing. |

Use petro 94 for the CDN94 maps, anything else *may* cause motor pinging. Better safe than sorry for a few extra hp.

I use petro 94 and the ACN91/CAN94 map cause I was always told that our gas is so shit that our 94 is worse than US 91, which is why it's written like that

Yes me to I agree but surprisingly I've had great success using Petro 94 with the 93 Octane rated tune on stage2+. I've logged a few times to make sure and I get zero timing corrections nor knocking or anything.

Sorry to revive this thread, I've got a question, I just bought my 2008 335i and just learned from this thread that there is 94 octane available here in Canada. Is it safe to put 94 oct on stock hpfp/lpfp? keep in mind I don't have any piggyback tuners right now that can log info. Thanks for your reply.

But really 94 octane vs 91 even with tunes I don't think it will provide a huge ammount of power. I run 94 on 93 tune just because I seem to have no timing corrections in my logs. And idk if placebo but I feel like my pops and bangs are louder on 94. |

I am currently running MHD 2+ tune, fill shell 91 or petro 94 religiously. Never had any issues; other than misfires from bad cyl # 3 coil pack. Last edited by Sav.; 04-28-2020 at 05:44 PM.. |

Reviving Old thread since I have now hit this milestone for my e90 n54... Which version of MHD Stage 2+ is the best? I will be using mostly Petro Ultra 94 as the huskies near me does not sell Husky 94 (They do sell Husky 91 with 10% Ethanol), I have achieved FBO status as of tonight! Thanks for your time and help! I wouldn't have gone this far without this forum!
