Its Never Ending, I Spoke to flipping soon
It looks like the rocker cover has a crack in it as the oil leak has re-appeared up near banks 5&6, you can just see a hairline crack,,,,,,, any one else had this and where did you go to get a replacement rocker cover, there are some on the bay from the US and Hong Kong, do i take that chance, or back to BMW to be shafted big time. Another issue, The car is running fine apart from when it is idling, then it starts getting a little lumpy, after replacing the Lambda sensor (Bank One) the car was more lumpy then before so it was unplugged and the car is running fine with it unplugged, trying to understand what is going on. I think I need to speak the chap who mapped it to see if it was turned of. But I am also thinking if its not running as it should with a new lambda sensor then that sensor is faulty? Any input would be appreciated Last edited by BMW Steve; 03-03-2017 at 04:28 AM.. |

Hi Steve , had to do my valve cover last year as i had the same problem . Seems to be a common problem on the n54 . Got mine from Bmw with a new gasket , i think for about £350 or so . Not to difficult to do just fiddley and time consuming . Took about 4 hours . Good luck ! Charlie

I am getting another lambda sensor for Tuesday, going to see if it was a faulty sensor, and then possibly call BMW next week and get them to look at the rocker cover issue. I want the car running as it should before they look at the car.

Interesting that it's a SE and only has 17" wheels (by the looks of it) Love the interior wood trim though and the colour |

The build sheet lists "P7MC Exclusive Edition" among the codes. But BMW never offered the six cylinder cars in this spec to the UK (AFAIK), and after LCI you could only buy the 335i saloon in M Sport trim, not SE (although you could get coupes as SE until the end of production). Clearly it's not an M Sport, but it really is a one off car.

Well, it's been a struggle but I got the 335 back last night. New rocker cover, lambda sensor, and another set of plugs. Going to pick it up on the way home later so I can give the car a good clean and use it for a couple of days.
Just going to enjoy the car for now, and off to Germany in May,,,,,, |

Shit Me,,,,,, It shifts now
What a transformation, I still think that the original underlying issue with the cracked rocker cover, plugs and coils that were contaminated and saturated in oil due to the leak were the main reason why it was always slightly sluggish and lacking performance. Now with every thing sorted and the map this is one quick little puppy, I need to go back to Reidy Tuning and have the car mapped again so he can push up the power slightly. Looking forward to seeing the rolling road results in 2 weeks time. |

Excellent news there.
You think she's quick now wait till you get used to her and go stage 2 turbos and the like LOL That would be the next thing I'd like to do. Pity funds don't allow yet.

If it is not one thing then it's another...
Drove to work Friday evening and picked up a stone chip in the bottom right corner I drove home on Saturday morning and I watched the crack slowly move across the windscreen.... New screen arrives on Wednesday, ready for the MOT on Thursday. |
