Traction light coming on

I have recently run into a problem after installing new wheels and tires on my 2011 335i xdrive. I installed a staggered setup as I had read that the xdrive can handle it. 8.5 wide in the front and 9.5 wide in the rear. Now whenever I go around a corner and try to accelerate the traction light comes on. Could this just be the coating on the rubber? Or is there something else going on. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

well what kind of treadwear are on the new tires that you have?

I put my te37s from my 328 onto my 335 and I had the traction light come on pretty damn often because my tires were ~560 treadwear, which meant that the compound was harder. I switched to michelin PS4S with like a 300 treadwear, so the traction light doesn't come on too often since the tires are made of a softer compound.

I am running nankang ns25 tires. I just got off the phone with the company that sent me them. They sent 235/35 in the front, and 255/35r19 in the rear, which was too big of a difference in the rolling diameter, so they are sending me 265/30r19 tires to fix it. This will work right?

Hope that it does fix it. I asked the tire brand as some Conti tires are too soft for our cars and cause the traction control to freak out.

yea that's a huge diameter difference. not the companies fault though... the 265/30 should fix it.. but 275/30/19 is a better match.

tires on xdrive cars must be nearly same circumference or you're gonna have a bad time.

the number bandied about is 1%, but really as close as possible is best.

be aware that 265 may rub on the rear depends on the tire design. I used to have 265/30/19 PSS which have a square cross section to maximize the contact with ground, and it rubbed a lot on the inside, after switching to 255 PSS this is no longer a problem.
But usually I would say they are safe to use, only a few manufacturer goes to that extend on performance.
