Oil level sensor

Hi guys I have a bmw e 91 330i and I'm having issues with the oil level sensor!!! I tried swapping it over but it didn't work! I've got ' inactive ' on the level indicator and it won't reset on the oil service and I just have the red oil can on all the time!!
Car runs a1 no issues what so ever and just done a fresh oil and filter change is there a way I can bypass it?
Thanks

Did you run diagnostics ?
There might be a problem with your bit serial data line.
This line is shared between several modules like the water pump,
ABS and Alternator the three that I can think of.
Get the coding/diag setup working then see what it tell you.
Its essential to have this working to keep track of your oil level.
(Unless you have a diesel with a dipstick)

I havnt mate no just tried the oil sensor first but to no avail now got an annoying red oil can in my service and can't reset it!! So best thing would be to get it hooked upto a good bmw diag?

You are troubleshooting blind for the most part on modern
cars without brand specific diags and some time invested
in studying the electronics.
