Need tips on pulling cylinder 6 injector. Removed brace to get more clearance and tried using hammer tool and picks but it still won't budge. Finally have to abort and hopefully no damage is done. Is there a universal/bmw injector puller available? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I replaced on of my injectors and didn't use any special tool.

Just pull that sucker up.

^ +1. If the fuel line is off, and the bracket holding the two (5&6) injectors is off, just pull straight up on it. If that doesn't work, pull harder.

I did follow the DIY and replaced injector 1-4 successfully. But the space for injector 6 is more limited (firewall, and smaller hood opening). I did try pulling but the injector seems glued in. Is there a way to lifted the hood fully up into service position? Thanks for any inputs. Will probably try again later.

Mine have all come out after a wiggle and a strong tug.

I've used a spare fuel line to attach as a handle.

i used a long enough socket extension that i could grab on both sides. and just pulled start up.

Vastly different cars but I recall years ago pulling a fuel injector on my 95 maxima; I had to make a U-shaped wire handle out of a coat hanger, push the ends into the injector body where it had 2 divets (prob for the correct nissan inj pulled tool), used pliers and pulled for all I was worth standing on the radiator support to finally free it. I fell off the car when I freed it, having pulled prob around 100lbs of force. I was surprised.

If I ever try that again, an inexpensive injector pulled might be worth investing in! I only found one that looks like it might work on modern DI and it wasn't that cheap. http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_A5-...gine/ES261581/

just saw a youtube video where people use engine lift to pull injectors. hopefully mine won't be like that. The fact is mine has been in there for 125k miles(never been changed). if I ever managed to remove it, I wouldn't wait to change my injector for that long from now on. thinking about buying a slide hammer or try the u shaped wire method. Thanks for the advice.

Wiggling the injector while pulling up with a dental pick like tool under the tabs on the injector body worked well for me.

On injector #6 I found it difficult to disconnect the wiring clip......so I removed the injector with the wiring still attached. Gave me a much better angle to release the wiring clip once it was out.

I had a little difficulty with #6 also. After removing the brace i used my motorcycle fuel tank prop rod. Used the screw hole for the brace as the pivot point and slide the end under the clips and with a little wiggling... voila!

Not that everyone has one but anything similar should do. Basically a rod with a bend in it to allow you some leverage from under the clip! Good luck!

I manage to pull that sucker out. As expected, the injector tip has a layer of soot baked on.
I attached 13mm socket with breaker bar to the nut collar on the injector (under the screw head where fuel rail screws to) and wiggle till i see movement. Finally slide hammer it out.
Hopefully this will help someone running into similar problem as I did. Thanks for all the kind words and help everyone.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am having this same issue. It's a pain in the ass and I cannot get it off.

Are you using a slide hammer? Be careful applying excessive side force or wiggle. There was a guy on here a few months back who ovaled the port trying to get an injector out and then he couldn’t get the new one to seal.
