The inboard DV seemed to be too close to the front DV, creating a loop in its vac line. I've adjusted the silicon tube connecting that DV to the CP, creating more space and taking out the vac line slack. I'll run it tomorrow to see if that helps...

The half engine light problems are super frustrating, its often a bit hit and miss what is causing them. Eventually you will replace the part that is causing the problem and the faults will go away. Frustrating bit is tracking down which bit is causing the headache.... Codes are an indicator at best.. good luck, we have all been there at one time or another

Thanks for all the support and ideas. I just want to avoid causing bigger damage. I'm not a complete moron, so the idea that installing the CP creating other issues really bothers me.

WTF!?!?! Drove in to the office today and got the SES light, limp, obvious (and somewhat dangerous) idling issues. Carefully brought it home and broke it down this afternoon to ensure there weren't issues with CP install. All good. O-ring in place, vac lines appear (I know) sound, took the throttle body off and aside from a little bit of film on it, it was fine. Cleaned it all up and put it back together. Started up, ran OK except a little dodgy at idle. Took a drive and it drove great... until I got a few exhaust pops and idle surge at stop.
Got home and found this: Carly told me: Found Faults: --Engine / Motor-- *** 29D1:Misfire cyl. 5 *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 800.00 rpm engine temperature: 107.25 °C Lambda Integrator Group 2: 33.59 % Load value for misfire detection: 13.28 % *** 29CF:Misfire, cylinder 3: injection is switched off *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 800.00 rpm engine temperature: 107.25 °C Lambda integrator group 1: 33.59 % Load value for misfire detection: 13.28 % *** 29D0:Misfire, cylinder 4: Injection is switched off *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 800.00 rpm engine temperature: 107.25 °C Lambda Integrator Group 2: 33.59 % Load value for misfire detection: 13.28 % *** 29CC:Misfire, a plurality of cylinders: injection is switched off *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) ambient temperature: 27.75 °C Counter recognition bad road: 103.00 - rail pressure: 50.28 hPa Voltage cl. 87: 13.51 V Cleared codes and immediately re-diagnosed to find: 0. Now, my car is apparently possessed by the devil. Am I crazy to suspect electrical gremlins? Bad fuel? Horrible luck? Thanks for reading. |

Starts up great, but the idle is a mess. Today's try yielded an SES after 5 minutes of light driving with the following:
Found Faults: --Engine / Motor-- *** 29D1:Misfire cyl. 5 *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 800.00 rpm engine temperature: 107.25 °C Lambda Integrator Group 2: 33.59 % Load value for misfire detection: 13.28 % *** 29CF:Misfire, cylinder 3: injection is switched off *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 800.00 rpm engine temperature: 107.25 °C Lambda integrator group 1: 33.59 % Load value for misfire detection: 13.28 % *** 29D0:Misfire, cylinder 4: Injection is switched off *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 800.00 rpm engine temperature: 107.25 °C Lambda Integrator Group 2: 33.59 % Load value for misfire detection: 13.28 % *** 29CC:Misfire, a plurality of cylinders: injection is switched off *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) ambient temperature: 27.75 °C Counter recognition bad road: 103.00 - rail pressure: 50.28 hPa Voltage cl. 87: 13.51 V *** 2D2E::Throttle angle - intake manifold vacuum *** Fault-Set 1 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 1408.00 rpm Intake manifold pressure: 53.00 kPa Relative load: 39.00 % Throttle Position Sensor 1: 2.00 °TPS Fault-Set 2 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 1152.00 rpm Intake manifold pressure: 37.00 kPa Relative load: 15.00 % Throttle Position Sensor 1: 0.00 °TPS Fault-Set 3 - ( 98048 km) Engine speed: 1856.00 rpm Intake manifold pressure: 30.00 kPa Relative load: 15.00 % Throttle Position Sensor 1: 2.00 °TPS |

You need to recheck your charge pipe and all connections. You said already you heard a strange whirring noise AFTER the new CP installation, so something was already odd.
Check the vacuum line to the intake and diverter valves too. Intake nipple broken? New 3.5mm hoses being used? While you're in there change all the vacuum lines to the turbo, solenoid(s), etc. Clamps on CP tight? Throttle body clean? TMAP sensor secure and clean? Anything else you touch and maybe didn't reinstall correctly? All your issues are related and simply cascading from the original problem most likely. Be thorough and stop second guessing other problems and I bet you'll find something simple.

Throwing in the towel and taking her to my friendly local shop this week. Checked everything again. Vacuum lines are like new and there appear to be pressure in the system, clamps for CP install are good, all connections correct. I've exhausted my patience and mechanical skills.
So very frustrating. |

WTF is the problem?! You replaced your O2 sensor and now you have some luck, needed to revive a thread to tell us about your luck?

Im having a misfire from start up. Code's are 29CF & 2C77. Just installed new oem bosch plugs and new delphi coils.
Still having the same issue. Constant misfire. I also have a battery on its way out, but works perfectly fine if the car is used at least once a week. I know someone mentioned something about changing their battery. I also had an old spark plug that was dark and somewhat oily in appreciance, compared to the other 5 that look normal.. What would be the next thing to check, ive done everything in this thread already. |
