Update;

The engine developed some pretty obvious missfire underload on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear at 6000rpm to 7000rpm WOT.

Will check on the usual suspect like spark plug and coils first. Hope this is not supercharger related. ..

Oil leak discovered on the Vortech V3 unit.

It leaks right at the shaft seal, I have to top up the SC oil until I can find a fix.

Just send an email to Vortech, hopefully they can send me parts to rebuild. Sending the whole unit to them for rebuild is not an option since I don't live in US.
The S/C has been on my car for less than 8000km, it runs perfecrtly otherwise, why? ;(

It's not running any hotter than it is designed to be? Only running 115mm pulley (6Psi at redline) so the stress is reasonably small?

I can't tell if the unit is defective or not, emailed Vortech and yet to receive a response.

Discovered it's not Vortech's problem.

The garage installed the S/C has forgotten to swap out the transport plug (solid plug) to the supplied venting plug (plug with a small breather). This results in internal pressure build up within the supercharger and oil eventually leak via the seal. (if you need image of the plug just search in the internet)

The installtion manual is not very clear on this so I won't blame anyone.
Anyhow, the venting plug is now in and I will check if there are any further oil leaks. I hope the damage is minimal; I order a set of replacement seal just in case.

After 2.5 years of running the supercharger, I think it's a good time for a bit of tune up. So I went ahead and put the car on dyno again last night, the plan is to;
1. Increase the Intake Valve Lift from 9.7mm to 10.2mm via ECU setting, without MILVs.
2. Study the current limitation.

After a few runs, we quickly realized the S65 injectors are maxed out at redline. We have to limit the maximum horse power for safety and work on the mid-range.

Final result;
- 298.8whp (+3.5whp from previous tune on same dyno, unable to go further due to fuel injector limit.)
- About 8% increase in overall torque.

* The two lines are NOT comparison with previous tune, it's just a previous run.

For those who wanted to run a smaller pulley to get more horsepower, you may have to think about a larger fuel injector option.

Next year I will go for the AEM meth injection as an effort to cool down the engine at high rpm. Since the ESS silicon charge pipe isn't a sturdy location for an injector, we are thinking whether to drill a small hole on the Vortech exhaust side to fit the system.... If I manage to do it I will post my review here.

Oh... why don't I take this chance to post some recent pictures of my car?

Thanks for the update and good on ya for documenting all your experience with this kit. I've just found out about the ESS kit and am considering it for my 330i. They list a V.3 on their site. I wonder if this is substantially improved versus the V.2?

Thanks.
It's nice that the supercharger is updated but I kind of doubt if it has any substantial improvement in terms of power and reliability; the limitation is always on the engine not the supercharger.

Not that I can think of.
Once I got the tuning sorted noting went wrong that is specifically to do with the supercharger.
Just general maintenance and wear n tear.

I have a set of BPC custom N52 turbo injectors if you are looking for a way to increase fueling. They were fitted but never done any miles as I started tuning just before Bob left BPC.

Thank for the offer, I guess I won't change injectors for now, the car is already slightly overpowered at high rev with the current set up.

Next step would be to cool it down with meth injection.

Thank you for posting your experiences with the N52 supercharger. I would like to install the same kit on my N52B30 6 series. May I contact you to discuss some detailed points?

From my recollection, this is not going to work. I think hass and cobra played with settings and no matter what they changed in software, they couldn't increase the lift without physically doing alteration, thus milvs were born.

Correct, The physical limit with the eccentric cam fully rotated is 9.7mm

er.... we discovered that changing the value did nothing on some follow up tune. I should have studied the said post first. ;(
That's why I got these soon after, yet to schedule a time to install them. I stupidly did not order the installation tools. Need to find a way to fit them.

In the meantime, I got the AEM injector drilled on the Vortech itself since it looks more sturdy than the silicon charge pipe.
I probably won't dyno the car for now but the butt tells me the mid-range seems to have improved. Perhaps I should shoot a video on how it runs once the weather gets better here.

You could use washer system. Just get extra bolts, for just in case one snaps.

Bumping a very old thread but I have been fighting the no throttle while braking issue for years and I am really hoping this solves it. Has anyone tried this solution with good results that is willing to help?

Are you supercharged now? Pretty sure you weren’t when we were texting during your n54 manifold install.
