The number of maintenance items and modification items is starting to blur.
It feels like a great transition, something that i'm very happy about as I continue to put personal touches onto the car.

One thing that I'm working on atm.

Really great idea! Perhaps something that has cold air ducting to the bumper hole below. Maybe that's something i'll look @ in the future. For now, I will let the future posts of the renderings tell the story.

Back to maintenance and repair!

I wanted to replace this bracket but the price point from the dealership was 40 dollars cad. I decided just to glue it with epoxy and it works just as intended. No need to spend unnecessary money haha

more $ for mods.

A bit basic and very similiar to Sport-chrono.

Needs improvement.

Oh boy.... I have some wiring in my future...

This is the canbus adaptor that is sold by 'carsystems . com . ua' and their vendor 'custom retrofit'.

I will be doing a full write-up in this thread for the F10 to E91 Steering Wheel Conversion.

While the front clip of the car is dismantled, I thought it would make sense to upgrade my communication skills.

To continue on the Horn project, they are installed on the oem location. With that being said, some adjustments need to happen with the installation since the Hella horn is larger than the OEM one.

I also re-wired the horns with a new connector. I think it's a MQS style?

With the new horns installed, I tried to put the front clip back on but the radiator support bushing broke off....

Picked up a pair from an E39 on amazon and they fit like a charm. The previous one popped out of the radiator support, whereas these ones are now flush.

I hope it does its job.

Here are some quick photos of the Headlight Restoration project in its completion.

The Before photo, with heavy salt pitting and 12-years of road debris/damage.

And after an untold number of sanding discs and grits later, we have a UV sealed and ceramic coated headlight like this.

It isn't as good as new, but it's almost there.

Yeah.... It was really disappointing as I was confident in my skill to put the car back together. What I didn't anticipate was the signs of old age and fatigue on some of the most basic of parts.

The snap ring had let go on the shifter linkage, disconnecting the transmission from the shift lever. It's a lot of work getting at a failure like this.... and maybe I'm more peeved @ myself that I didn't replace this 3 dollar part when the transmission was out of the car earlier in the rebuild.

I tried to replace the valve cover gasket in the hope that it would resolve any issues but unfortunately, it looks like the PCV is toast...

I've had to order a new valve cover....
In addition, I've also ordered the replacement Vanos Bolts. I am rather annoyed that the car has to sit for a bit more but so be it.

Now that the car is on the road, I wanted to calculate some of the overall expenditures. This is a WIP spreadsheet (work in progress) of all values since July 2020.

It looks like I am quickly reaching, or have already reached spending as much money on modifications, replacement & repair as I did on the base cost of the car.
