Risks of driving 335i N54 with an uncoded injector?

My mechanic is not aware that they must be coded therefore I'm stuck with one until I can bring it to BMW. My car is in limp mode with P135B coming up when scanned. My car is misfiring slightly, especially from a cold start in first gear between 0 and 3000 RPM's. Any advice/knowledge is appreciated.

It is fine to drive. Speaking from experience, drove over 40 miles and stop and go traffic with it misfiring on the way to get coded. Still good 2 years later

Were you also experiencing limp mode?

I am sure someone near you does coding, if not just contact bimmergeeks or one of the others here that does remote coding.

if your decent with computers there's a coding diy on the forums.

Considering the injectors control how lean or rich each cylinder will be i wouldn't really drive it until its coded correctly unless you absolutely have too.

Its cheaper to get it coded remotely then to buy a new engine.

All you're doing by coding is fine tuning a pair of variables to adjust for minor variances in manufacturing in order to deliver the maximum power and fuel efficiency. Every injector has already been tested by the manufacture to be within acceptable tolerances and are perfectly safe to use without coding. That's how they know which energy and flow values to print on the injector body. Energy values are between 35.0 and 80.0 with most injectors averaging around 58.0. Flow values are between 1.30 and 3.00 with most being around 2.20. If your injector is anywhere close to those numbers (and I'm sure it is), you're fine to drive the car until you can get it coded.

I replaced 3 and it ran horribly until I coded them.

It'll drive like shit and you'll get misfires in some situations, but if you're only doing it for a short while its not really a problem.

I had uncoded injectors (all six had zeroes coded, don't ask me how that happened) and after a couple years I got that fixed (took forever to diagnose). However by then I needed new plugs and coils since the plugs were badly fouled.

If you need help coding we can do it remotely for you. It would be best to limit driving and definitely drive conservative until it's coded correctly.
