I've done it. The part alone is $125 US, plus shipping.

Search for BMW Professional LCD Optrex CD73. There's lots of options for souring them. I probably got mine from Ebay.
I changed mine 4 years ago at 168765km. I don't remember exactly how long it took. I remember that removing the shielding from the board took more effort than I was expecting. Maybe an hour total. |

I've done some research, just thought maybe you had a vendor that you dealt with and had a problem free transaction. |

Surely there has to be someone in GTA who can fix this. So far I've only been able to find people in California and UK who can fix the issue and replace the display.

The issue I see with 'fixing' it, is that it will come back again.
Since it's not a defect in a specific batch. It's just bad design/quality product. So spending ~$200 CAD only to have the same issue again after few years is a hassle. Is there really no other more permanent solution? |

If there really isn't anyone nearby that'll do it, I guess I could find some time to help out. If you bring me the radio, and the new LCD, I can have it ready in an hour for $100.

I don't have the emails or the Ebay listing that might contain a part number from when I replaced mine 4 years ago, sorry.
It looks like the OPTREX part number is 3231867. It may be a good idea to pull the radio out to confirm it's a CD73 radio made by alpine. There should be a label on the bottom. |

I did the swap from a part that was sourced from a for sale ad here on E90 post. Easy install, if you drive to me I'll do it for you for a 6 pack of beer. PM's don't work so you can reach me at: adamvolasko at hotmail dot com
