I use new life too, but naysayers on here will point out that it's LL01 not LL04. ESP is LL04. Not done me any harm in 60K so far though, but then I do change every 6K...

Iv been happy with Castrol 0w40, however has anyone actually used
Castrol EDGE 5W40? I know that both 0w40 and 5w40 will do exactly the same job when the engine's up to temp - they're both 40-weight oils when hot so have the same viscosity at typical engine operating temps. The Castrol will go gloopier (i.e. thicken-up more, or become more viscous) at room temperature and below as it has a higher W rating at 5W rather than 0W. This means the colder it gets, the less oil gets round your engine to lubricate it when you start up in the morning.

In terms of replacing old oil with the new, does anyone have their own little methods lol
I have a habbit of, Id drain all the old oil first completly, then pour in a cheap oil and run the car for a while, then empty out that oil too. That way hopefully all the old oil and gunk would of completely be drained out clean. An then pour in the good stuff. Long process i know, this time i think i might use an additive like the Wynns instead

unless the engines clagged up, just drain the old stuff out and fill with your fresh new oil.
It doesnt matter if the small left over amount mixes with the new stuff. If your worried about the engine being gunked up due to insufficient servicing, you can do some oil changes back to back, with perhaps a few hundred miles of driving in between. |

Adding on to an old post. I've been running Mobil delvac 15w40 and change every 15k miles with filter changes at 7500 miles. I have 244k miles on my stage 4 BPC tuned 335d. I've been running this since 85k miles with the tune. I've never had an issue and run delvac in all of my diesel trucks, suv's and cars.
